W11 Age Verification problems

Windows 11 Pro
After experiencing numerous problems installing a few apps that I use from the Microsoft Store, I gave up. Chatting with Microsoft Support ending up with a remote connection to verify the problem. MS Support told me that I have to use a Microsoft account with Copilot and the other apps for age verification. I looked up my Microsoft account, while they were still connected, and I kept showing them the other problems. While I stepped away from the computer for a few minutes, the Microsoft Support rep used my Microsoft account to set up my computer with Windows Hello security. So the Microsoft account is in Windows 11, Microsoft Edge, and everywhere else in Windows 11 with Bitlocker Encryption enabled. Microsoft Support even enabled Recall.

Due to going to my Microsoft account to update the Date of Birth (DOB) to my real date, this marked my Microsoft account violating their Age Verification. My Microsoft account is now locked due to changing my DOB. In order for Microsoft to unlock my Microsoft account I need to send Microsoft "proof" of my age. The required my ID, social security information, and place of employment verification. I told them there is no way I will ever send them that information. The Microsoft Support rep in chat that he resides in the Philippines area.

I am so damn mad right now. The Microsoft rep had no right to use my Microsoft account to set up my Windows 11 Pro system like he did. He wrote that he is trying to assist me in helping verify my age and Microsoft wants them to set up anyone's computer correctly.

This could have been real simple. Access Copilot through the web site and log in that way. All this other BS was totally unnecessary.

Apparently Microsoft quietly released parts of the Age Verification feature in 26200.8037, but not enabled all the way yet, with a gradual rollout. This I found no where in the articles on this update.

Hell NO I will not let you verify me through the web cam with showing other proof that I am me. NO WAY Microsoft!

I am assuming you were not left logged into windows and can not log into Windows..Is that correct?
You have a couple of catch-22's here.

If you are not currently logged in and can't login the fact you can't get into your MS account makes file recovery impossible if your user folders were syncing to Onedrive because you won't be able to login to Onedrive on the web to recover them.

Since bitlocker was enabled, the only way you would be able to access files stored on the drive is if you were given a 48 digit bitlocker recovery key when the drive was bitlocked .The only place this key is stored is in your MS account online which you can not access.. You would have to access command prompt through recovery environment at boot and use that key to decrypt the drive. Without the key, you are SOL as you can't even enable the hidden administrator account until the drive is decrypted nor can you use a live Linux distro to recover files until the drive is decrypted.

If you manage to decrypt the drive, Then you would have to enable the hidden administrator using command prompt at boot thru recovery or using a windows install drive.. Use the admin account to create a new local user administrator account. Then boot from a live linux distro to recover files from the old account. Once logged into the new local account, You can delete the MS account.

IMO your most logical 2 options are:
(1)Give Microsoft what they want and recover access to your account. Then undo everything that has happened OR
(2)Do a clean install using a local account and start over from scratch. A clean install automatically removes encryption. Make sure you remove all partitions on the drive during the install process and install windows on unallocated space.

You have a couple of catch-22's here.
I was logged in to Windows at first and once I restarted is when I learned Bitlocker had been enabled.

Since bitlocker was enabled, the only way you would be able to access files stored on the drive is if you were given a 48 digit bitlocker recovery key when the drive was bitlocked .
That is how it works unfortunately. This is why I don't use primary accounts on my computer. The Microsoft account that the key is under I cannot access. I had hoped I could have accessed it through my other account.

Already started to reload my system again. I've been using the Linux system to get my work and other things completed.

Tip:

You can remove a locked Microsoft account login in Windows 11 where you can disable the PIN and remove the Microsoft account. I have done this removal many times before where these systems were not encrypted.

For those that do not know about this utility, it is part of Hiren's Boot CD, called Windows Login Unlocker v2.1.

for the bitlocker key you can go to the control panel
and open bitlocker encryption
which will allow you to save the bitlocker key to the system as a text file.

best of luck Steve ..
