Hi folks
Is there any sort of sensible app which you can use n a computer say send via email which will generate a text and an alert on a mobile phone that activates at a specific time.

I don't want to set this on the phone itself or use any calendar type apps on the mobile. All I want for example is while I'm at the computer to send a message / alert to a mobile phone at some determined time in the future. So if it's say today I want to send a message (today) that will be received by the mobile phone for example at 10.00 on say Thursday.

Easy via calendar on the phone ("set alarm") but I don't want that.

Cheers
jimbo

Is the target phone your personal phone, a spare phone or somebody else's? Is it Android or Apple?

You mean like email to SMS? Couldn’t you send an email to SMS and just time delay the email?

I'm intrigued, why try to re-invent the wheel, just set an alarm, that way if the internet fails you'l still get your alert?

Please read the OP again, he is asking something quite specific. He does not want to set it on the phone, but remotely.

Thanks -- you've understood the problem. I know there are other ways to do this of course but sometimes --especially as you get older and are working on a computer you don't want to mess around with mobile phone apps -- once I'm done with computers etc for the day --then I'm done !!, No Phones, Ipads etc. -- Off to pub, take dogs for walks, repair kids motorbikes etc or whatever !! Lovely seeing 20 year old kids with all the technology in the world at their disposal looking at my knarled hands re-starting a motorcycle they thought would never work again !!.

Cheers
jimbo

I did read it, perhaps you could explain how he'd get this alert if he's out of cell range or if not near a computer how he would set an alert? I just pick up my android phone and set the exact time with the exact date with a text reminder personally, that doesn't rely on cell service.

Now if he wants to do it 'just because' then that's fine but impractical plus his thought process might give a more exact solution.

just download and use Microsoft to-do. it'll sync your reminders between pc and mobile

He said he did not want to use the phone to set the alert....He wants to send the alert to trigger later. In theory, it should be possible to send a remote alert from PC to mobile for a future time and date.
