Watch Microsoft Windows and Surface event on October 7, 2026

 engadget News:

Microsoft is hosting an event in San Francisco on October 7 on "how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC." Coming only a few months after NVIDIA announced its first system-on-a-chip for Windows, the NVIDIA RTX Spark, the event seems like the perfect opportunity to share more information about the Surface Laptop Ultra it will power.

Lending credence to the idea, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, and Microsoft Executive Vice President of Windows + Devices Pavan Davuluri will be in attendance at the event. According to Microsoft, the trio is expected to share the "latest innovations across Windows, NVIDIA RTX Spark, Surface and the broader PC ecosystem."

Date & Time: October 7, 2026, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET

I am very interested in the new Laptop Ultra, but the pricing is going to be outrageous in Canada. Starting at 3g for 24gb of ram is a no go. I can get a macbook pro 14 with 32 gb for 2899 here. Yes, It runs crappy macOS, but that's what people are going to be cross shopping in this segment.

I hope the prices I saw were wrong. I really need a replacement laptop for my current one. if it is like 3000-3200 for 48gb of ram model I will jump on it.
