looking forward to event hopefully they show a updated build to the leaked one

if microsoft release ISO on 24june official i clean install on my computer,if is dev or stable i dont care i see better results on gaming expierence and stuff like that!!sorry my english

They should add Windows 11 to Fast Ring (Windows Insider) for testing and bug checks, i really hope for more changes on UI especially, add transparency on Windows Explorer for example.

Yep I agree. Particularly as Fluent Design is the new thing.

I think MS have been too afraid to apply acrylic due to the background variance that could cause poor visibility of foreground windows (currently they only have it on their menus ) - but if applied correctly ( as in a granular form, like have a percentage selection based on accent colour saturation, it can be very cool)

Here's an example of how it looks horrid if applied unabashed and how it could be applied in a proper fashion.

Personally I feel transparency and Fluent, just use a lot more resources for no real benefit
Windows 8 and 8.1 not having these, was great for benchmarking.
For pro gamers that need every iota resource for FPS, and less processing happing in the background, transparency is bad.

Yup, but you turn transparency off... (and go back to the old days? LOL) - same with Dark mode.

Yep options are always good.

I just wish for dark mode, Microsoft would copy the textured looking dark gray that Ubuntu has :)

Totally agree- the Gnome GUI looks good without the overhead

This is what I was referring to - see how poor the design is? (in relation to transparency)

(This is not new in terms of Fluent - the Green Accent colour on Light theme in Win 10 is bad as well)

I agree with the gamers here -- although I'm not a gamer myself. Same is true if you do serious photography editing say using Photoshop . For this I usually find a plain neutral gray background by far the best -- or even a "green Screen". For other purposes transparency etc is fine but there's no "One Size fits all" when it comes to these types of things. For instance I find some blue text on Dark (Intense) Black themes incredibly hard to read - I pilot small planes (PPL) and am tested regularly so I know nothing wrong with my color vision.

The main thing is that these effects or whatever they are called these days should have a considerable degree of user freedom in how they are applied.

BTW I did notice that on Clean install of W11 the sign in default is back to blurred screen. To disable that the tutorial in W10 Forums still works perfectly.

@Superfly - the reason that GNOME / KDE etc interfaces can look good is that the actual "Window Manager" i.e the GUI is a separate entity in Linux - a service (used to be called the "X-Server") basically handles the services required to call up these GUI's via the main service GDDM for the Gnome display manager and SDDM for KDE. Then the whole GUI is independent of the rest of the system and can be designed / modified at will. You don't even need a GUI at all.

Changing the Windows GUI significantly is a much more difficult exercise as it would entail almost a whole re-write of the Windows system. The Windows GUI seems to work reasonably well -- I doubt if that's the biggest complaint with Windows -- for me the ongoing thing is in File Explorer : Let's get file explorer etc to be able to handle long names (directory, path file etc > 266 chars. Windows internally can do it but a lot of programs still use the old Windows file browse API keeping the restriction.

Regarding transparency and the usage of resources, c'mon we're in 2021 where we have plenty of RAM, powerful CPU & GPU, the performance impact will be minimal and unnoticeable on the most PC's , and you can disable transparency effects if you wish.

Probably Fluent design will be a true succesor to Aero design introduced with Windows Vista :)

The issue is going to be how 11 will impact older hardware and not newer hardware. I was easily able to get it to work on a 3 year old motherboard so I suspect it's going to be easy to set up on newer gear. I just wonder how it's going to set up on old gear. There are people that can't afford to upgrade.

The problem is that you cannot design a piece of Software to give the users of today what they want and/or Need if you are going to throttle the system to suit outdated hardware. Microsoft has never to my knowledge stopped anyone from using an old OS on older hardware, there are people still using XP and it's still working for them.

If you can, just take a look at the software running behind the Point of Sale terminals in stores, or the software running your ATM terminal they may well be XP or even Windows 9x. usually these systems are connected to more modern servers, which handle financial transactions and Internet connections. These systems still work because they do not try to outperform their related hardware.

Moore's Law is still as valid now as it was in the start of the computer revolution every 18 Months or so computing power doubles so you have to consider Microsoft and other developers who, to keep in business have to make their software work with the latest hardware. If you set every five years as the time between Operating systems this is getting close to ten times the computing power increase, so to cover older hardware the OS will end up bloated and be slow to run on newer hardware, also the New OS with the New and Old code may be just to big to fit on old hard disks

I had an unexpected update on W10 - the weather/news widget for the new W11 (I assume). Really annoyed me at first! Because I wasn't expecting it. But it's done no harm - turned it off as I'm not ready to mix 10 and 11 together! I'd like to keep one on 10 and one on 11.

Windows 10 had an update that included a weather widget. I got it some time back

Everyone got the weather widget, it was a waste of space. Why install something that`s already there

I use the UK Met office app/website for my weather reports, it's got Several forecasts for the small / medium city where I live, and keeps this granularity for the whole of the UK

I do also have a subscription for Windy.Com which gives a lot of detail for weather world wide and pretty pictures too

Microsoft's weather widget was a Joke compared to these
