Weird Notepad behavior

I recently noticed some bug in Notepad (modern app). When I double-click a text file it might open at first (not always). If I close it and double-click another text file, I see a blank Notepad window for a few seconds and then it closes. Any new attempt to open a text file fails. If I start Notepad from start menu it opens every time. I have tried to delete the following key from Notepad according to a tutorial, this causes Notepad to open the first time but again fails to open the second time!

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\notepad.exe

The key is not present to delete it again, unless I restart my PC. What's going on? Has anyone else seen this bug? How can I fix it? I already tried to remove Notepad and reinstall it, didn't fix it.

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
It can be some corruption in notepad OR another app on your system interfering with notepad.
You can try to reset notepad. Settings>apps>installed apps>Notepad>3 dots
If that doesn't work do a quick clean boot to see if another app is conflicting with notepad.

Version is 11.2510.14.0. I have set new files to open in a new windows, I don't want to use tabs. When Notepad starts I have selected to continue previous session.

PS: I changed that when Notepad starts to discard all unsaved data and start a new session. It looks like the bug is gone, but I would prefer to open the last session so I won't lose any unsaved data. Anyone can make out what happens and Notepad crashed when trying to restore previous session? Access rights?
