Hi,

Running Windows 11 23h2. 22631.4317 on Surface 3 laptop.

I’m wondering how to clean my temp folders as disk cleanup and Storage Sense cleanup don’t seem to really work.

I cleared out Windows/Temp, but when I start up again and work, I get multiple log files with timestamps that are 2 to 5 minutes apart such as

"C:\Windows\Temp\myname-20241014-0834.log"

"C:\Windows\Temp\myname-20241014-0835.log"

"C:\Windows\Temp\myname-20241013-1316.log"

Each file contains a lot of data such as

10/08/2024 15:36:11.531 OFFICEC2 (0x3fa4) 0x4a8 Activity bjtco Medium DroppedAggregatedActivity {"Name": "Office.Telemetry.DynamicConfig.ParseJsonConfig", "CV": "vZEzXG0oTky5KiMBx6G0zw.10.6", "ProcessIdentifier": "OfficeC2RClient.exe_16.0.18025.20104_X86_{5C3391BD-286D-4C4E-B92A-2301C7A1B4CF}"}

These files are days and sometimes weeks old.

Are these telemetry data sent to Microsoft? And why aren't they deleted when I use either disk cleanup or the Storage sense cleanup?
I also turned off sending telemetry data and these files still appear.
I’m just looking for a way to empty the temp folders as disk I had maybe 50 files in windows temp and user appdata temp.

Thanks

Last I looked into this, those logs are created by the Microsoft Office ClickToRun Service (ClickToRunSvc). Also, you could not disable this service without breaking Office. That was a few years ago, though; maybe someone else has more current information.

I believe that is related to office 365. Do you use office 365?

Yes I do use office 365. I’m pretty sure I downloaded all the programs onto my laptop.
