What boring 'officy' type of computers are the most reliable?

I think most modern day computers are pretty good. It's all the stuff you put on them and the tweaks that cause the problems. Myself I love Alienware and Dell, both been trouble free for me.

Okay, this is what the system I posted about actually is. It is the RCA W101v2 2 in 1 tablet. It has the Intel Atom Z3735F processor with weak Intel HD Bay Trail graphics. It has a 32gb eMMC main drive and only 2GB of RAM. It came with Windows 10 32 bit preinstalled. Working drivers for the touchscreen, cameras, and rotation sensor can only be obtained from RCA and there are only 32 bit versions. It's not a great device but for the $99 I paid for it brand new, it's a good deal for a full Windows 10 device that runs surprisingly well. I wouldn't describe it as "officy". When you do a clean install, Windows does not find drivers for the items mentioned or for the graphics and sound. The sound will not work unless the correct graphics driver is installed.

As far as computers for offices go, I would say Dell is the best bet, followed by Lenovo. I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 990 for my housemate for only $125 and it's a solid little machine.

Yeah, I believe that WU resetting things to their default values, happen for a reason (it is not an MS oversight). There are only so many configurations that MS can test, even with their considerable resources. So, don't fight WU resets and adapt to those resets, if you don't want trouble.

They're good.. I would opt for Asus myself. Rock solid motherboards and that's what matters to me. Toss on a decent processor and you're set

I like boring .. it works and that's what should matter.

My old Latitude E6410 is a tank. Outdated as hell, but easily the most reliable machine I've owned.
