Ah. I see what you're talking about with that page. Yes, there's no banner with Dark Reader on.
Just within the last week or so! 🤷‍♂️

Only happens on Channels that have a custom banner.
In the Dark Reader menu, click on the Dev tools tab at the bottom and hit Ctrl+F to search. Type in youtube.com and delete the whole code section for youtube.com, click on Apply. The difference between having Dark Reader enabled/disabled on YouTube is small. But it's still a difference...

I tried Dark Reader for a couple days. Worked perfectly fine, just decided I really didn't need it.

So, back to zero extensions, for me.

Of course, the information you're posting about your browser extensions is very useful in identifying you through browser fingerprinting ...
so I rotate certain extensions/plug-ins to help prevent it

In place of Cover Your Trackers, try https://fingerprint.com/demo . Brave, Mullvad, Firefox with BetterFox, and Firefox with ArkenFox might fail in that, showing the same visitor ID.

To randomize the visitor ID, try the addons CanvasBlocker (max. protection preset and reCaptcha) and Chameleon (randomize the profile every minute or so using the latest OS and browser versions; activate all setting except for resist fingerprinting if you don't want the browser window changed and delete cookies if you don't want to log in sites each time).

The catch: probably more CPU usage, some sites will not load (you will have to whitelist them in Chameleon), and probably slower browsing.

An alternative for Firefox is to just minimize anti-tracking and -fingerprinting and instead use the multi-account containers addon. That way, you can contain some sites and thus make their tracking attempts futile.

Finally, if you need to work on anything, focus on ad blocking. For example, use uBlock Origin in default mode, and then slowly add a few more anti-annoyance filterlists to remove more annoyances like cookie and newsletter subscription popups.

Finally, if you need to work on anything, focus on ad blocking. For example, use uBlock Origin in default mode, and then slowly add a few more anti-annoyance filterlists to remove more annoyances like cookie and newsletter subscription popups.
You could always decide to go for Firefox Portable with Narsil and run multiple instances of that, in parallel (with the AllowMultipleInstances=true in FirefoxPortable.ini in the same folder as the .exe) via multiple sandboxes in Sandboxie-Plus. By making multiple copies of the same FirefoxPortable folder, it becomes possible (and easy) to configure each copy individually, and, by making multiple Sandboxie-Plus sandboxes in addition to this, it also becomes possible (and easy) to configure each sandbox individually. Neither one of both these two options will prevent you from still also using Firefox profiles and the Multi-Account Containers addon, uBlock Origin, etc. so, it is a really very powerful strategy to consider.

Further, if you also set the sandbox location of some of your sandboxes to a folder on a ramdisk (I use Romex Primo Ramdisk with Dynamic Memory Management in Compact Mode, mainly for this purpose), you can boost it significantly, e.g. by writing your own automation scripts that let you be in control of what data gets stored on the ramdisk, of when that data gets stored on the ramdisk, and of when that data gets deleted from the ramdisk. Another reason why I prefer to use the Portable edition of Firefox is that any copy of the FirefoxPortable folder can easily be copied again, to any location on the SSD or on the ramdisk, inside or outside a sandbox. And I can make differential copies with a copy tool like FastCopy, also via a script and whenever I want.

Finally, Sandboxie-Plus can also save on storage space, as it doesn't populate a sandbox with a file before the file gets modified by a sandboxed process that runs in that sandbox. One implication of this is that you also get to choose between letting Sandboxie-Plus copy the file to the sandbox as a result of such a modification when it happens or letting your script [that you wrote yourself] that you've got running outside the sandbox copy the file to the sandbox when your script decides to do so. That is, also in addition to letting yourself be in control of when to delete or move certain files out of the sandbox. Heck, with such a browsing station you could actually even set it up such a way that it collects pr0n in copious amounts from Titter (I know it's now called X, but I still prefer to call it Titter... just because I can) uninterruptedly all night so it feeds all the resulting privacy metadata to Alphabet Inc. and lord knows who else. Then see how much they like to steal your data. 😂

I have given up upon extensions (blocked), too many malicious and abused ones. NextDNS is all I need against tracking/malware.

Of course I use Brave for Youtube, that is a special case, I can not afford Ultra Premium Plus. 🤷‍♂️

I think multi-account containers was developed to avoid having to do that.

I don't think that Multi-Account Containers can be used to switch between multiple different browser configurations.

I don't think that Multi-Account Containers can be used to switch between multiple different browser configurations.

It prevents cross-tracking.

Yes, BUT... it doesn't allow the user to switch between multiple different browser configurations AFAIK. I mean, I run multiple instances of Firefox Portable (from PortableApps.com) such a way that each browser instance is in its own separate copy of the FirefoxPortable folder. So the content in each of these copied folders can be configured individually as needed, thereby allowing each modified copy of the same portable browser to be run simultaneously (also as needed).

This is still something that is possible only by using the AllowMultipleInstances=true setting in a file FirefoxPortable.ini in the FirefoxPortable folder AFAIK. It isn't possible to achieve with any other browser (also AFAIK). Even the non-portable edition of Firefox doesn't let me.

I run multiple individually configured instances of it in multiple individually configured Sandboxie-Plus sandboxes simultaneously. This strategy doesn't prevent me from using Multi-Account Containers and Firefox profiles. Think of it as a separate layer that can be used on top of all the other options.

Sandboxie-Plus doesn't use virtualization. It means that you can install Windows in one or multiple VMs, then install Sandboxie-Plus on each, and use it to create one or multiple sandboxes on each. It also means that you don't necessarily always need to run a VM.

It matters because installing Windows 11 in a VM that runs on another, separate installation of Windows 11 eats more RAM when RAM can be put to better use to let apps run faster and to fill up a ramdisk, for example. This gets exacerbated with multiple VMs running simultaneously. Running a browser under the supervision of Sandboxie-Plus (former Sandboxie) is, and always has been, among the most common of its use case scenarios so, it makes perfect sense to embroider on it for this purpose.

Also, Sandboxie-Plus goes several steps beyond the "traditional" concept of containerization. It has an advanced featureset that makes it unique, which it does in various many ways. The option to point the sandbox location to another folder on a separate drive (such as a ramdisk) as needed is only one example of this.
