Solved What's with the Passkey requirement?

I could not log in to this website today because it required a passkey - which I do not have. So I had to create a new userID with a different name & email to get logged in. Is having a passkey some sort of new requirement? Or is there a way to get around this problem?

Passkey is optional, so you do not have to use 2FA, generally after every 30 days.
You have to enable passkey yourself, but even if you do, there is still 2FA option.

Thanks, but unfortunately there is no way to get around the passkey requirement message. I thought I could use a fingerprint scanner as a passkey, but that did not work, so I removed the scanner from my PC and thought I could go back to my regular login. ANd now I'm stuck with the new one I just created.

There is only a passkey requirement if you have turned it on, let me know your account name and I will turn it off.

1. I never got the option to about forgotten password - just the message about entering a passkey.

2. Yes, I did turn it on when I thought I could use a plug-in fingerprint scanner. But that did not work, so I have removed it.

This creates a Catch-22 situation - I can't log in to remove the passkey requirement. I tried reinstalling the fingerprint reader, but that did not work either.

Are you sure it isn’t a device thing? Windows keeps trying to get me to create a passkey or use my Windows pin for all kinds of websites now. iPhones do that too. It’s annoying as Windows keeps asking for my phone passkey which is on my phone! (Not for this site though).

i use 2FA Authenticator extension in my browser (Edge)
which is password protected and backed up to an encrypted folder
on my backup drive. also Edge will backup the Authenticator with sync.
