Solved When computer updates File Explorer no longer works.


Not sure what a Insiders Dev Channel has to do with anything?

That article is for the Windows insiders builds. Worlds apart (sort of)

You posted the build link like I did it was that 24H2 that stopped my file explorer and photo app from working. I had to reset my two computers because nothing else worked. Also when my friend downloaded the update 24H2 download hers did the same thing so I had to reset hers. The only way to fix file explorer issues and photo app issues is to reset the computer. I tried multiple things even rolling back the download it did not work. Anyway I found the only solution that works that is resetting the computer.

Why are you downloading updates? Why aren’t you letting Windows update your HOME computer. Why are you downloading DEV Build updates?

Hey, I’m just saying, this update is not for your build of Windows. Tell your friend she is causing herself grief trying to install it. In fact I am surprised that Windows Home accepted the update. There is a reason resetting the PC worked, it’s because it gave you the correct version of Windows for your PC.
Updating from 22H2 to 23H2 is fine. Updating to 24H2 doesn’t make sense.
Maybe someone here more experienced than I am can correct me and tell me that I am wrong and that you should be installing these update's, or that it is safe to do so, or makes any sense.

Also, you never mentioned you downloaded updates, you blamed Microsoft for installing them.
