Solved while in autohide mode taskbar stays hidden even after hover mouse

is perplexing. it didnt act this way before.i used to auto hide taskbar. it usually appears when hover mouse near it. i do this to have a clean desktop. is start11 to blame? or something else

No.

I can use Autohide Taskbar (just tried) whilst Start11 is installed. However it messes with the Taskbar look if I activate Windows Automatically hide the Taskbar, due to icon sizes etc.

Reboot or restart explorer.exe

Turn OFF the Windows native "Automatically hide the Taskbar"

  • Open Start11 settings.
  • Click "Taskbar" on the left.
  • On the right click on "Configure enhanced taskbar...".

  • Again on the right again, under "Additional settings", at the bottom toggle ON "Enable Start11 autohide mode" It's much nicer anyway.

This can happen with certain third party programs. The trick is to find out which program does it. In my case it was Discord. As soon as I close Discord my autohide functions normally again and I can access the icons. With Discord open it will tend to stay closed when it drops back down.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
I should add that it's pointless having Start11 if you're not going to ignore Windows native settings for the Start Menu and Taskbar.

If you use Start11 autohide mode, you might be pleasantly impressed with the visual fade out as apposed to the Taskbar dropping to the bottom when using the Windows settings.

Have you looked through all the settings in Start11? Some nice settings in there.

Myself, I never tried it but I hear it's quite popular. Evidently this issue occurs without Start11 so I don't think it is to be blamed.

I think it's about AU$15 a year. That's about 25cents Canadian.
