It's not so much that as they expect all Windows users to recognize Microsoft as their absolute master that must be obeyed without question in all computer related matters.

I have seen the disclaimer since October o November, when installing on non-supported computers using UFDs customized by Rufus. I have never seen any water-mark.

Just more scare mongering from MS because Windows 11 market share is well below where it should be at this point in time. It has actually dropped a little from October to November of 2024. It is simply not a "must have" for most people , especially with the way the economy is right now and they have an OS that works perfectly fine in 10.

I have absolutely no doubt that if employed that there will be a registry hack or work around to get rid of the watermark .

They are not gonna get the message until October next year when Windows 11 market share is still well below where it needs to be when all they have to do is just relax the requirements , Windows 11 is no more secure than 10, especially if you run 10 with TPM and Secure boot turned on, and you can update 10 most times without an update going sideways, something that cannot be said about 11.

Point in case .... how long has 24H2 been in development and how long had the build been in the hands of insiders? how many updates have they put out for it so far that has broken something since it's release to the public? It has gotten to the point to where I will not update my 11 machine for at least a month after the update is put out.

i posted this in another thread but i will copy it here as well.
that may very well be the case. im not really up to date with Windows as i spent 20 years using Linux before moving back to Win11.
but they seem now to have the whole package Office 365, Windows 365, AI etc etc and this is mainly aimed at business.
that is where the money is and i have a very strong feeling that if personal computer users dont comply they will be left to be hang out to dry.
they are just my thoughts as i can see MS hasnt changed much from my very old beta testing days, its the same old same old.

Both Recall and Copilot are nothing short of train wrecks , both should be removed from the initial OS install and users should be given the option as to whether they want to install it in app forms if they want it.
I don't even use Copilot because it is so limited, there are far too many other online AI generators that are much, much better.

Am I missing something? Support for Win11 23H2 ends Nov.11,2025 and unsupported devices can't run 24H2, so where is the problem?

have a very careful look at Copilot and Recall. they are not exactly designed to run on the average computer.
they are designed to run from the cloud with a server farm doing the heavy lifting. add Office 365 and Windows 365 and you start to get a whole package designed for business not the average home computer user.
hence the decline of the output and quality of the updates for home computers. the market Microsoft are aiming for is the business market.

there isnt a problem, per se, the fact will be very clearly visible when the bypass path for installing Windows is removed.
it will be either comply with the Microsoft way or goodbye and find something else.
it will be as simply as that and will then depend on what the end user decides.

Also in the past even 20 years ago Windows automatically showed a watermark when either in trial mode or when Windows was NOT registered.

When Windows 11 is installed on a device that doesn't meet the minimum system requirements, a watermark is added to the Windows 11 desktop. Notification might also be displayed in Settings to advise that the requirements aren't met.

If a device that doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for Windows 11 experiences issues after upgrading to Windows 11, Microsoft recommends going back to Windows 10.

so I am bypassing that step and sticking with Windows 10.

I'm not going to exhaust myself in a another debate about Recall because its clear you didn't even bother looking at the links in my comment. If you did you wouldn't have posted two outdated videos, including one from the same channel of the video that I linked in my comment.

The video in post 43 is just a 9-minute ad for a utility to set various things, similar to what Group Policy editor would do if you had a Windows SKU with that feature.

The check box to disable Recall just sets the DisableAIDataAnalysis policy, which isn't necessary, because snapshots are off by default. As far as I can see so far, the utility does no checking to see if Recall is on or not.
