Solved Why can't Windows find this file?

Check the environmental path associations, if the path to Reflect.exe is not listed in the locations Windows should check then add it and see if that makes a difference.

Good one! A good programmer would have added that path in the installation program. But then what happened to all the good programmers?

Macrium has a repair option.

Double check the registry again for the .exe , do you have the word Debugger in there?
If so delete the subkey, if you have that key, deleting it will solve the problem.
Ccleaner adds those when running apps from D: or after an uninstall.

We had our first social evening in a long while last night, and it was great, but it took me away from my machines until I was too tired to continue. I’ll be back at it again this morning, and I’ll check in with all of you kind people then.

P.S. @Ghot, I uninstalled and reinstalled yesterday before we had to leave for our dinner date. After what appeared to be a successful installation, I tried new shortcuts again, and got the same useless message again. I’ll follow up on some of the above suggestions this AM, and get back to you all.

I'm guessing it wants to be installed in Program Files, on the Windows drive.
But it's just a guess.

Yes, this is most likely the issue. Many apps require to be installed on the C drive to function properly or to even launch.

YES!!!! That did it, @OAT! After checking about 20-30 instances of reflect.exe, I finally found one with the Debugger subkey. Deleted that, restarted, and everything on the machine, including Macrium, is working perfectly. I promptly made an image, now that I could access reflect.exe and my profile .xml files. Many thanks for your persistence (posting the same suggestion twice). Debugger was (ahem) de bugger.

@Ghot: tried reinstall to defaults and no go, so did a reinstall back to my choice of location (with almost all of my other applications and utilities) and still no go. Many thanks for your ideas and persistence.

@Edwin: None found, but thanks for the idea.

And to all of you who were quick to try to solve this conundrum (@Try3, @idgat, @Winuser, @TraderGary, @DigitalGoat, @kado897, and @2112 (my apologies if I missed anybody)), my sincere thanks for being the best expert consultants on the Net. This is THE PLACE.

That was a perceptive catch, but I tried resetting the three shortcuts (one to the program itself, and two that launch image-making profiles without opening the program itself),making sure that the quotes were doubles. I have had that problem before. Thanks for noticing the diff between the pop-up text and my posted (post #1) shortcut copies.

I've been checking the integrity of the FAT (File Allocation Tables) using chkdsk since my first PC in 1981. Over the years I've had several instances of problems like yours that were fixed by chkdsk. Thus, that was my best guess. Great that you found the problem solution!

This is the third time in the last 2 months that users have reported issues with applications located on the non-OS drive. Three times the solution was the same; now for the confirmation:

You bet. Wouldn't be without it.

I'm going to the CCleaner Forum today to bitch about this glitch. I've had at least three programs go belly up on me in the past 3-4 months because of debugger subkeys thrown by CCleaner. In each case, the solution turned out to be simple deletion of the debugger sub. Thank you for reminding me. Until CC fixes this, every time I have a program misfire, I'll go on a witch/glitch hunt for DEBUGGER.

Yep, it can't be a glitch, it's deliberate. There is no coincidence. A reg key does not appear out of the blue.
The reason I knew was because it took me a whole day to backtrack what I had done to my machine in order to find the solution and the cause.
BTW @Wisewiz , you thanked everybody with reaction points, but me.

Just kidding really, just very pleased to have been able to help.

Best of luck but I doubt whether you'll get much satisfaction.

CCleaner really lost its cred and mojo when taken over by the insidious Avast. It did come good for a while but recent chatter across a number of forums suggest Avast is reverting to its usual ways (for the free version of CCleaner, anyway). I suppose if it's free, users just have to put up with what's offered.

Maybe time for a change ? Me, been using Wise Disk Cleaner since I dumped CCleaner.

TRIVIA : What does the C in CCleaner stand for ? When originally released the program was called Cr4p Cleaner (4=A). I think that's a now more appropriate description of the program itself, rather than what it does.
