I'd read that installing Windows 11 in VMware could be tricky - TPM and Secure Boot etc, so I thought I'd have a go.
I installed VMware Workstation Pro 16 and grabbed a Windows 11 iso from Microsoft. First attempts gave the familiar 'this pc does not meet the spec' message. Turned out I had to encrypt the VM install in order to enable TPM emulation, and also check a box for secure boot.
I installed the VM Windows 11 OK without a serial key, but after install I checked and it said 'activated with a digital licence'.
slmgr -dli came back as Retail partial key 3V66T status licenced.
Previously when I've used VMware with Windows guest I had to activate the VM - but here it seems to have activated itself.
Any idea how this has happened ?
