Why is my printer suddenly not in the list of printers?

My printer had always been in this list. I guess a Windows update had removed it. There hasn't been an update to the printer driver.

Under Printer preferences I had disabled Let Windows manage my default printer, I guess a Windows update had enabled it. I had kept clicking the Set as default button, but nothing happens.

The More Information section does say that it is connected, but Bother iPrint&Scan says it is offline.
