Are we able to remove all news from the widgets and just use the weather, etc? I'm fine with disabling the widget menu altogether, but wouldn't mind being able to pop up the weather forecast if I can get rid of all the other stuff. So far haven't found a way to do it.

I don't need the news. I technically don't need the weather either, but it is nice to have every once in a while.

I think it is the same controls as for the Microsoft News app. You select categories you are interested in. I haven't tried removing all interests tho. You do this through the right upper account icon in the feed, and select "manage your news and interests" in the bottom right hand corner.

Would it not help if you went to Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled "Microsoft News"?

They don't seem to be related. I uninstalled the news app right after the Win 11 upgrade, but I still get news in the widgets menu. As far as "manage news and interests", unless I'm just not getting it, it seems to allow you to customize what news you see in the feed, but not to eliminate it altogether.
