I have been hardwired throughout the house for years and have always disabled WiFi on routers. Now my mobile phones are soon to be scrap when 3G is switched off, I have got a Samsung A14 which is future proofed and have switched the WiFi on. There are 11 other WiFi signals within range, so I used a very strong password for mine. That has worked fine so far for the Samsung, but did not work when I tried connecting my Motorola. Trouble is that the Motorola password capacity is 4 charactors short of my new one. Shame, I don't want to use a shorter password and the smart tv and the new phone are set up and running well. I had not thought of that limitation. Accounts do vary in their password tolerance, my ebay can cope with longer than my PayPal can.

I have just noticed that I have put this thread in the wrong section, it should be in network and internet.

Unless a motivated attacker has a very expensive rig and even still if your password is 12 in length or more cracking a 4-way handshake is going to be pointless unless you have a really bored neighbor (unlikely).

I would recommend disabling WPS though it's easier to break in that way that trying to bruteforce a password.
