Hello @renato, welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

Please post a screen shot of Disk Management, with it expanded so we can see all of it.

And was the G: drive or partition, where you saved the backup?
Did you use the Windows backup?

Microsoft recommends that we do NOT use Windows backup.
Do this...

1. Delete the backup(s) you made with Windows backup.
2. Get the free program: AOMEI Backupper Standard and install it.
3. Then use AOMEI Backupper to make a "System Backup" of your Windows 11 install.
4. You can SAVE the backup anywhere you want. It will be about 1/2 the size of your Windows 11.
5. Then use AOMEI Backupper to... "Create Bootable Media" ...so you can get to your backups even if Windows won't boot.

I like win 11 backup so i want to use that instead of some other backup software i never heard of.
I read no where on the net that "Microsoft recommends that we do NOT use Windows backup. " so this is not the answer i was looking for.

Anyone?

It's all over the internet. It's just hard to find the exact Microsoft article.

Most of us on here use Macrium Reflect, and a lot of others use AOMEI Backupper (it's a bit easier).

Here's one mention of it...

Here is another...

I found the article... from Microsoft.

...and if you scroll down...

Note: I use Macrium Reflect (paid). I switched to Macrium from Acronis True Image, and am happy I did.
Some people think Macrium is too complex and choose simpler solutions like AOMEI Backupper.

My favorite backup software of all time was Norton Ghost 2003. But it won't run on Windows 7 and up. :(
I still keep a picture to remember it by...

Here is ElevenForum's POLL on various backup softwares...

Interesting that MS Docs is now suggesting the use of OneDrive and MS 365.

MS Docs used to say 'For full-disk backup solutions look for a third-party product from another software vendor.' (full stop)

Nowadays, MS Docs says 'For full-disk backup solutions look for a third-party product from another software vendor. You can also use OneDrive to sync data files with Microsoft 365.' (no mention that OneDrive can be used without MS 365)

Interesting also is that MS Docs does not mention File History in this context. I think that there is a message in this info being left out, i.e. File History is on its way out

It's all IMHO, of course, but it may be useful for planning your computing future.

In "another" MS doc... they do mention File History deprecation.
But as I mentioned above... they don't make things easy to find.
It's like they're... embarrassed. :D

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I have not seen an express deprecation of File History in MS Docs yet, interesting would be a quote.

It's getting to be really hard to find the actual MS docs. I was three links deep in MS docs before I found the Windows Backup deprecation item.
If you want more than that... Google away. :-)

Now... they're pushing OneDrive. In a few years they'll be deprecating that.
Since Win 8 they've been pushing this Windows phone type interface... they'll be deprecating that sooner or later.

MS got to where they are on... desktops, not phones.
It seems MS has yet to learn... "Dance with the girl that brung ya".

LOL, I don't need Google, I myself wrote about File History maybe 2 or 3 dozens of postings right here on 11F :eek1:

What I meant was that there is (or there appears to be) no official MS statement on the deprecation of File History (yet)

MS considers the matter closed, people are supposed to use Version history instead, it is "better", since you have to pay for Onedrive.

I would still expect an official statement from MS if and when they deprecate File History.

A word of caution on Version History. Be sure to close it or you would divulge your negotiating tactics! But best is to print out a hardcopy > scan
