windows 11
Hi,

i build a new pc and no update that requires a restart does work. I get the 96% problem where there is a message that says something went wrong.

I deleted the hidden folder but no change. I checked the disk management and there is no system partition i tried to resize the MSR partition of 16mb but couldnt do it with AOMEI Partition assistent rebootable.

I tried every method i could find but non of them worked.
I also couldnt activate the partition because it says only MBR or GPT can be activatetd im not sure anymore....

How can i resolve this issue?

Welcome to the Forum

You probably installed Win 11 without detaching a drive that has a EFI partition on it and the installation installed the boot manager on that drive and the OS on another. Where is the Recovery partition?
As the disk manager image don't show the other drives it is almost impossible to know what is missing.
Please post a whole window Disk Manager image of ALL your drives. Don't forget to expand the columns so we can read them. How to Post a Screenshot of Disk Management
If you have a MiniTool or AOMEI Partition use it instead or Windows disk manager.

As it is a new installation I would start over again detaching all boot able drives leaving on only data drives.

Please edit your profile with ALL your hardware specs. It will help us to help you

Ok, everyone that noticed this... raise your hand. :-)
I'm guessing it's an MBR disk?

I assume the rest of it says: Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Basic Data Partition

I don't know why the OP's updates don't work, or why the OP thinks the Disk is not activated.
I'd imagine it is activated or the OP couldn't have gotten a screen shot.
If there's a 3rd option, besides MBR or GPT... I don't know what it would be?

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
Windows can be installed in two ways: Legacy-MBR or UEFI-GPT
To install as Legacy-MBR you must boot the installation drive as Legacy
To install as UEFI-GPT you must boot the installation drive as UEFI.

If you have a UEFI BIOS, you should install as UEFI-GPT
Detach any other drives (SATA or Power cable) from the MB.

During POST, press F12(?) to launch the boot menu. You will see two options for the USB drive. USB UEFI (Name) and USB (Name). Select USB UEFI (Name) if you want to install as UEFI-GPT or select USB (name) if you want to install as Legacy-MBR.
Go to install and delete ALL partitions on the main drive till you have one and only one unallocated space and then proceed.

@ocelot, did you installed as Legacy-MBR or UEFI-GPT?

To find out, open disk manager (C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc), expand the window and on the top select View - Top - List disk
On the first window you will see it the drive is MBR or GPT.

Yep, that's what it is. Apparently He installed Windows with either D or E set to "Active". The same happens if one install Windows in UEFI mode, if there's exist an EFI System partition, that's where the installer will use to store the boot info and set up dual boot so it's not random .
Even though the consensus advice from this forum is to disconnect all disks except one to install Windows, however, it is not practical if one has multiple Nvme drives in the PC, Laptop, that means: open the case, remove the video card then unscrew to remove the Nvmes.
An alternative is to backup the EFI System (UEFI) or System Reseved (MBR) then delete them from the the disk(s), proceed to install, once done, restore them back to where they were.
Yet, another option is to manually install Windows using a small batch file which IMO is the best, It will bypass all the checkings whether the PC is supported or not.
Been there, done that.
