Solved Win 11 went from crashing when attempting an update, to not booting at all and refusing to reimage my drives.

b) If the drive passes the Long generic test then clean install Windows 11 and upgrade the BIOS

Apologies for the delay in reporting back. As briefly mentioned, I'm spread a little thin these days.

So, swapping the drive into my partners PC allowed it to be formatted, but still windows hits me with the same issue; although, thinking back, I realize I only ran Diskpart and didn't also make sure to run chkdsk at that moment, so maybe there's a correlation there.

Additionally, while the drive was in my partners PC, I ran the Seagate bootable, but it failed to recognize a connected drive. I will be putting the drive in my main PC this evening, assuming I have a free moment tonight, and will report as to whether Seagate can find the drive while connected to my PC later.

Also, I haven't tested the new NVMe with Seagate nor have I installed it in my partners PC to see if it will take the OS. I'm hoping to test this tonight as well.

Her drive does, but there is only one spot for the NVMe on her mobo. Mine has a spot for a secondary and I have one plugged in there, I just dont want to try and flash windows to it as I'd lose the data I'm trying to save.

Well, now my PC won't boot to the Seagate usb. Recognizes it, but trying to boot it sends me back to BIOS. Gonna format the usb, redo making it bootable, and try again.

When it rains, it truly pours.

And windows repair is now telling me the drive is shot and that it can't be fixed. To be clear, this was a drive that was working in a separate PC, but having plugged the SSD from the originally affected system seems to have spread the problem to my partners PC.

So I've now bricked two computers.

Diskpart isn't listing any drives on her PC. Off to see what it shows on mine 🙃

Edit: diskpart lists drives on my PC. I must have missed something when hooking her drive back up, though I can't imagine what.

Crisis averted. I removed her SSD and, when reinstalling, I pushed that thing so hard it left a solid line in my finger. Her OS booted though.

As for mine, I have diskpart 50% through a long format of my main drive. Hopefully, chkdsk will quit its moaning after this and do its damn job.

I'm running chkdsk because it's been screaming errors since the beginning, but won't actually do what it needs as mentioned by what you quoted.

The Seagate test hasn't been completed because, as mentioned above, my PC won't boot to the USB, so I am long formatting it and starting again. Which brings me around to running diskpart and chkdsk to get this drive as in good of condition as possible for the Seagate test.

Gotta say though, I really feel like this would be fixed if chkdsk could just do it's damn job. Idk why it won't write to the drive or partition. I just reformatted everything so it should be clean, but it keeps stating write protections that aren't there or keeps complaining that it's in NTFS because of course it is. I'm not at all understanding why it won't write to an NTFS volume.

Finally, I'm typing this up on a browser on my phone; photos aren't really an option here as attempting to add files just deletes whatever I've typed, and doesn't ever add the files. Rest assured, I've thoroughly quoted anything pivotal that has been on my screen, as you yourself have quoted just now.

It's less not being able to run it and more I can't even get to the software, though I suppose they're somewhat similar in effect.

Unfortunately, that's the problem. I can't get my PC to do a clean install, as mentioned above (I believe on the first page of this mess)
