Just trying to get this windows update downloaded and I've been trying for the better half of a week, just learned out what the partition is this week. So I try to follow tutorials, but one thing I see which is different than alot of peoples is my recovery partition is the first thing on my disk. There is almost nothing I can find on youtube or chatgpt or gemini. I can shrink my c drive, but I don't know what this 16 mb (other) is and AI is telling me not to delete if I don't know what it is(Which I don't) So im just at a loss. How do i extend my recovery partition? What are my solutions, thanks!

Not tech savvy enough to play with partitions and potentially mess up thats why Im trying to get it tailored specifically to mine with people who know what they're doing. I tried looking up videos on youtube, but I can't seem to find one that is like this, which would be my better option. I don't want to ruin anything.

Isn't it important to get it updated though, and if so isn't the partition the main issue anyways?
Yes, it is important to remain updated, however, the update only addresses a particular security bug:

This update automatically applies Safe OS Dynamic Update (KB5034232) to the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) on a running PC to address a security vulnerability that could allow attackers to bypass BitLocker encryption by using WinRE.
Source: KB5034441: Windows Recovery Environment update for Windows 10, version 21H2 and 22H2: January 9, 2024 - Microsoft Support

It's only really applicable if you use BitLocker.

Well that is the solution, if you're not confident to try that then you'l have to wait for the 'Fixed' fix.

They're .bat files so you can download them and open them using any text editor to see which commands they're running.

The instructions are here: KB5028997: Instructions to manually resize your partition to install the WinRE update - Microsoft Support

Unless you're using BitLocker then there is no reason to install that update.

Yea I did this thread step by step, but it didn't allocate it because there are different partitions in the way and it needs to be right next to it. :/
But i don't know how to go around it, or move it even with free version of minitool wizard. But thank you

The first partition is the recovery partition.
It is 500 MB.
It will be deleted and remain as 500 MB unallocated space.

1) Run Tuneup plus (it will run in the background and produce a text report) > post a share link

2) Open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

Code:
reagentc /info
reagentc /disable
reagentc /info

diskpart
sel dis 1
sel par 1
del par override
sel par 4
shrink desired=1000
create partition primary id=de94bba4-06d1-4d40-a16a-bfd50179d6ac
gpt attributes =0x8000000000000001
format quick fs=ntfs label=”Windows RE tools”
lis vol
exit

reagentc /enable
reagentc /info

After it deletes partition 1 partition 4 will become partition 3.

So sel par 4 will likely need to be changed to sel par 3.

Windows 11 Forum. KB5034441 doesn't apply to Win11, even on the 2 I did the unsupported Upgrade from Win10 to Win11.

But, I got my 4 Win10 Notebooks and 3 Desktops updated to that KB5034441 except one and won't be needing to do it to that one.
