Hi,

I'm a big fan of Windows customization. In this screenshot you can see the bottom right of my desktop.

I would like to know if there is a way that a folder supports transparency. In other words, don't display the black and white background of a transparent image.
I tried to convert the image to .ico with MS Paint / Paint .NET and online converters, but nothing worked to get ride of the PNG background.

Any recommendations ? Preferably free of course.

Best regards,
Aurel.

have you tried the GIMP which is an image manipulation program.
you can get it from the Microsoft store or online.

it should be able to do what you want.
best of luck, Steve ..

Thanks for your answer !

I just give it a try. Same result. Windows still display the PNG background of transparency.

Additionally, I checked Settings -> Visual Effects. Transparency effects is turned on.

To eliminate any possibility it being a Windows issue I recommend my clients upgrade to a newer version of Windows. Your 21H2 is out of date, current is 23H2 with 24H2 being the most current but with some problems and not everyone getting it yet. I have a Lenovo Ideapad Ryzen 5 with 24H2, not seeing any problems yet but my other Win11 machines aren't getting it.

Thank you all for your help. My Windows is now up to date.
This is how it looks like now. I guess I could tweak the color of a selected folder, but that would affect all folders as well.

I'm using Lively Wallpaper Engine, which is free to use and open source.
