Yep, always have had updates to be done. It's just about the same as buying a new computer, don't know how long it was there doing nothing until it's sold. Somewhere between the last Patch Tuesday and the next one may make a difference.

We can all wait in anticipation as to what, if anything, MS releases on 20th September.

I just don't know how to disagree with that. What I need to do or find out can surely wait that long but then I'm not as OSD as some other reads I've seen.

Maybe not on the surface, but who knows what hoo-do voo-do MS has made under the hood.

One question for y'all. Do you think one would be better off uninstalling any third party app that alters the GUI before applying 22H2? Something tells me it would be safer to do so.

I've found it best to have an installation fully up-to-date before doing a Version Upgrade. Sometimes customizations will be removed so I keep a record of what I've done but haven't done as much of that with Win11 yet.

Well, to me, I guess it is all the comments, "I hope it comes out soon", "I can't wait! ", "When will it come out? "

It was available something like May when it was announced as RTM.

I saw back in April or May that there would be only 1 release yearly of the RTM instead of twice yearly like was with Win10 and 21H1 and current 21H2.

Probably. I don't use any, bar one. That's a replacement for 21H2's missing 'drag and drop to the Taskbar' so of course that's going now it's making a welcome return in 22H2 :thumbsup:

Doesn't really bother me. I've been running it as a second OS (native boot vhdx) on two of my machines since 22H2 entered the Insider Release Preview Channel. My first machine to try it has been running 22H2 since April, getting all the feature updates, and is now on 22621.521.

The 20th would be nice, I'd like to get it on my main machines as soon as it's offered to them, but I can wait.....

So if MS issure RTM as 22621.521, where does that leave people on Beta versions on 22621.598 (or 2262.598)?

In previous major upgrade, Beta and RP converged in last couple of weeks before RTM version.

If RTM version is issued at 22621.521, the those who have elected to unenroll from Insider can surely do so, but what about Beta - I do not see how they can unenroll backwards?

Of course, maybe Beta versions will uninstall updates back to 490, and then update to 521 but this seems incredibly convoluted.

So my guess is RTM will be 22621.598, and we will get an update soon for RP to update to 22621.598.

We should not read too much into pcs shipping with 521 as they will soon update to 598 (or what ever sub build number becomes RTM).

PS I have set my version 22622.598 to unenroll at RTM release to see what happens (easy enough to rejoin). That's the beauty of using vhds for Insiders - I do not care if they screw up as I can reclone my Host OS to VHDs and rejoin Insider at any time.

I never use Beta or Dev for main Host OS although I am on 22621.521 RP for Host OS but will leave once RTM is released, and only use RP in a VHD until we are nearer to next RTM.
