I agree - that is the only logical conclusion if MS was to be consistent with its naming conventions. I suspect this will not be the case though LOL.

Not until now.

I don't know if it is a good idea to continue with this version without receiving updates.

From today's Thurrott article:
Well, you know what I mean. There’s no real “RTM” anymore, and Windows 11 version 22H2 will be updated before and after it appears on new PCs and is released to the public. That’s the world we live in now.

News of the release comes via our good friend Michael Reinders, who pointed out that Microsoft has confirmed this as the final build via its Tech Community blog.

Windows 11 build 22621 was first released to the Windows Insider Program’s Beta channel about two weeks ago. At that time, Microsoft noted that “the build watermark at the lower right-hand corner of the desktop is no longer present in this build [but that] this doesn’t mean [it’s] done, and the watermark will return to Insiders in a future build.” Well, clearly it did mean that it was done.

Be patient! That's because that build has not been out long enough to receive updates. You will see updates starting with the June Patch Tuesday updates, or possibly even earlier with the preview updates.

the 'hint' referred to in @Wolfzz's second link is this:

Windows 11, version 22H2 based systems may ship with drivers that have achieved compatibility with Windows 11, version 21H2 until Sept 5th, 2022.
Partners looking to achieve compatibility for systems shipping with Windows 11, version 22H2 Release may use drivers for components that achieved compatibility with Windows 11, Version 21H2 until Sept 5th, 2021 (sic)

So looks like general availability will be some time after 5th September. My guess would be 5th October, one year after 21H2 was launched. In fact the typo (2021 instead of 2022) make this look like a cut-and-paste from Microsoft's docummentation to OEMs for the 21H2 launch which would suggest MS have in mind the same timetable as last year.

I think that's too long if RTM is the current build, I reckon public release will be early in H2 (July maybe)

That would be nice, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The build for 21H2 that was released to manufacturers was apparently 22000.9 from July 2021. But 21H2 still didn't go to general availability until October.

While foolish to say what Microsoft will number the RTM, It certainly looks like it.

You should be so lucky -- try and install Icelandic !!! however the 25xxx builds do a better job currently than the 22.x one's which leave bits half transalated all over the place.

At least the dev insider builds seem to be getting there properly - which is more than I can say for the RTM buld (if indeed it is RTM). I installed Icelandic over the original base Windows (UK Eng). Didn't seem to have a problem -- just change the logon and account to use the new language, re-boot and it all seems to work seamlessly - even most of the menus etc are "reasonably translated" -- however I suspect that most people working in Mumbai developing Windows won't probably have any working knowlege of Icelandic. !!!!!!

It has not even been through its first "patch Tuesday yet". Fresh install of 22H2 yesterday. 47 updates after install.

Office is inherently insecure due to it's VB based macro's - thus the constant updates - I just use my own security protocol and turn off Office updates - functionality, for us normal users, has not changed much since 2007 - as far as I can tell.
