Whispers and murmurs about Windows 11 22H2 (codenamed Sun Valley 2) reaching release to manufacturing (RTM) status soon have been doing the rounds for a while now, with a report suggesting that it is happening this month itself. Another more recent report claimed that the latest Beta Channel build 22621 was the RTM candidate, with the sign-off on May 20, which is just under a week away.

Today, famed leakster and Twitter user WalkingCat has revealed the Windows 11 22H2 RTM date and it is just a few days after the May 20 signing-off. According to WalkingCat, Microsoft will be signing 22H2 or Sun Valley 2 (SV2) on May 24. However, it wasn't revealed which Windows 11 build was the RTM candidate and so for now, the most likely candidate seems to be build 22621 as suggested by yesterday's report.

It's available on uupdump.net, but still as an Insider version. I think I'll download it and maybe try it out, but am not sure, since I need to be on the same version as my students.

Having to give up Insider kind of sux for me. :(

100% agree -- although Pivot table handling has improved (you could do that in Office 2010 anyway in Office 2010 and maybe data query handling slightly easier if say accessing MariaDB / MySQL / other external DB systems.

I have it downloaded and in its spot but won't install yet. I may keep a check for anything new. I'd have to triple boot this machine if I install, and not sure I want to do that. :eek1:

So, does all of this mean that we are guessing that MS will be making an ISO of 22621 available on or around May 31st?

I already have an ISO of 22621.1 -- but that is an Insider version and I don't want to use that on my production PC.

There is no difference in the ISO file whether you got it 3 weeks ago or 3 weeks from now. It will be the same build 22621.1.

Sorry, I'm confused. I made the 22621.1 ISO from the UUPDump link on the Insider thread -- so I have presumed this is an Insider version, and if I install this on my production PC, that will turn it into an Insider box -- something I do not want to do.

When Microsoft moves a build from Insider to RTM they do not change anything in the build. If they did, it would no longer be the 22621.1 build, it would become the 22621.2 build. All they do is change the label assigned to the build internally (at Microsoft). The build itself does not change.

So basically, I already have the 22621 RTM build ISO and can use that. Will look into doing that next week.

Yes. And that is how Microsoft instructs insiders to leave the program. Once they are on an RTM build, simply turn off the option to be in the insider program under settings and your system leaves the insider program. Installing 22621.1 does not automatically put you in the insider program.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, 1920x1080 touchscreen, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine. As its new home has an existing digital licence for Pro I've been able to upgrade the migrated OS from Home to Pro.

You want build 22621. It is listed as a BETA Channel download, but that is what became the final build.
