Windows 11 24H2 LTSC freezes on startup.

So the circle to let you know Windows is loading stops altogether and nothing happens.

After many attempts it will try startup repair then go to a black screen forever.

It is installed to a 256GB Silicon Power SSD which was formatted and trimmed.

System spec.

So since then. I troubleshooted the RAM. PCI add in card too. No fix.
Restored Bios defaults.
No fix.
Disabled Secure Boot. No fix.

I have since downloaded Linux to a USB and will begin downloading a Linux distro and a usual Non LTSC ISO of Win 11 which I have licenses for both LTSC Enterprise and Professional so this is not too big a deal. LTSC overall is a much better version though.

I am an insider for those asking.

LTSC has worked fine in a 5800x3D and Core i5 3550 system. Fails on Alderlake for me.

Try booting into Safe Mode to see the problem resolves.



If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't know what it is you probably are not overclocking.

Use Memtest86+ disc to check system memory's (RAM's) for errors.

Use CrystalDiskInfo to check SMART health report of the hard disk drive (HDD).

You can't OC non K sku processors on Z690 unless you pay around £1000 for the Asus Maximus board.

Welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

Does that mean you re-seated the RAM and the vid card?
Many times, re-seating the RAM and vid card will cure "black screen".


Also, you don't have to "install" Linux... you can use RUFUS to create a bootable Linux-live USB stick.
Then you can use that to boot right into Linux the OS, no install necessary.



You have the RAM in the wrong slots.



The RAM should be in slots 2 and 4 counting away from the CPU, to the right.
The RAM should be in the slots marked with the YELLOW dots, in this pic...

Although Windows Memory Diagnostic is a very powerful RAM testing app, the MemTest86 utility does a more thorough job using more effective and robust tests.

There are four LEDs on the motherboard (EZ Lighting LED) that light up at boot and turn off if everything is OK. See the description on the internet.
