Solved Windows 11 25H2 - Computers freezing

Hello, I'd like to ask whether any of you encountered a similiar issue as we have since updating to 25H2 ver. 26200.8875, multiple computers have "frozen" and the only solution seems to be a hard reset.

What it does:

1 - Computer responds to pings but it can't be rebooted remotely (management tools, cmd, ps - returns an error)
2 - It still renders everything and the cursor can be moved across the screen but it doesn't respond to any other inputs (mouse clicks, keyboard, etc.)
3 - It happens randomly and on multiple Lenovo laptops and computers so far (T14, T15, ThinkCenters...)
4 - The EventViewer doesn't show any obvious errors, only thing is that the logs are completely empty from the moment it freezes up until restart as if the whole OS froze

Has anyone experienced something similiar/the same issue since the latest July update? I googled a bit tho I didn't find any issues that would behave the same.

shutdown the system and then start the system, now see if it freezes.

Are these computers Company controlled and if so are you able to remove these controls and return Win 11 to its original state ?

Please can you complete your system specs as fully as you are able. We don't even know if you are running Windows 11 Home , Pro or Enterprise.
My Windows 11 Pro is on 26200.8894. Is your system fully updated.

I have had a few freezes, normally just after a big Windows update and I have to use the power button to shut it down and then it's OK.

Mine is a Lenovo Laptop different model to yours but a similar problem with Edge freezing, Cursor moves but clicking does not work. However you can get to the Task Manager.

To unfreeze open the Task Manager > Processes > Edge > GPU Process > End.
You can wait a while > 5 min or longer it will unfreeze by itself.

I have Repaired Edge, Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Edge > 3 dots > Modify > Repair.

The freezing is rather infrequent ~ 1 per day, but consistent, with no errors indicated. It needs a long test, but so far far (3 days) seems to work.
However the 26200.8894 update was done around the same time so doubts remain.

It is only the Web Browser that freezes.

Thanks for the replies and I'll try to play around with fast startup on monday to see if that fixes anything. The computers are domain-joined, all running Win 11 25H2 Enterprise. Today I waited about half an hour when one laptop was stuck like this until it finally crashed with error DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE and made a dump. After going through the dump it seems that the crash was caused by a "Realtek USB Ethernet Adapter" driver which would most likely point to the docking station it was connected to. Here's where the fun starts because both computers and laptops behave like this so it can't be caused by 1 driver only... Also the realtek driver might not be what caused the freeze, it's possible it died as a consequence of it... Next monday I'll go through the specs of all the affected computers so far to find out if all of them have Realtek ethernet NICs.

The error confirms my theory that something goes very wrong when the OS tries to wake up from "standby" mode and everything just freezes. Another suspect I had was TrendMicro since it affects computers randomly (perhaps it blocks some process when the computer tries to wake up, or it performs a scan at the time which causes the freeze?), so far 90+% of the machines are running fine, some froze once, a handful of them froze 10 times a day and then the next day it didn't happen at all, others keep at it for multiple days in a row...

Completely forgot I created this thread but in the end the whole issue was created by "Lenovo Universal Device Client" which consists of a driver and a service carrying the same name. After stopping the service and preventing it from auto-starting we managed to get the whole domain back in order. :)
