Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 OS Build 22631.4037
I have 2 PC's both running Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 OS Build 22631.4037, they are both on a Private Network.
My problem is with a Canon iX6880 Inkjet Printer, it is connected to my PC, I also share a Brother MFC-L2880DW XL with my PC. wife's PC, she can print from it with no issues.

We had both printers working from both PC's, then we shut the wife's PC down and moved it 1 meter in the office to make more leg space, we lost the network connection to Canon printer for some strange reason. I got the shared Canon working again on her PC, then lo & behold the Router died momentarily the other day. We lost connections to all of our Bluetooth devices, TV included.

I was about to follow everything in a similar thread in this section of the Forum, when I noticed the OP was running Windows 11 Pro, he had things like Printer Management and one or two others that are not available on our Windows Home.

I have loaded the Canon iX 6880 disk that came with the printer, onto both PC's, downloaded the latest driver for the printer and installed it. I still cannot get the printer to network with the wife's. Her PC can see the printer on my PC but it will not install via her Control Panel.

Sorry for the above rant but just wanted to draw picture (sort of), my question is: Does anybody have any suggestions as to what could be stopping my wife's PC from being able to use the Canon inkjet printer?

Thanks!

Hello, Sorry no one has answered. I just saw your post. It sounds like there's an ip conflict to me. I am assuming this Canon printer is wireless. IP conflicts can be avoided by giving devices static (persistant) ip addreses on the network when possible, such as with printers.

I am assuming after you uninstalled the printer on your wife's PC that you did a restart before re-installing the printer again.

Your can first try this on your wife's computer. After each step see if printer is detected.

1. Powercycle your router. Restart computer..

2. Run network troubleshooter. Settings>System>troubleshoot>other troubleshooters>Network & Internet>-RUN

3. Attached is @FreeBooter .bat file which resets network components. RIGHT click on the .bat file and select run as administrator.
Restart.

5. Check for file system corruption. Open a command prompt as administrator and type
sfc /scannow
After system file checker completes, make note of whether it found and corrected any problems. If found and corrected, restart

If that doesn't work assigning static ip addresses might.
You do this from the networking section in your printer's control panel. Step by step instructions are different for every printer but your's should be in your printer user manual. If you do not find it, here's Canon's general steps for doing this. Be sure to save your settings.

Once the printer's network ip address has been made static,
Power off the printer, power cycle your router, power on printer, and restart both computers. From then on, that same ip address will be assigned to the printer.
