Solved Windows 11 display HDR not supported for a monitor

Hi

I have in Windows 11 in HDR settings say HDR not supported while the monitor support HDR. Model BenQ MOBIUZ EX2780Q. How to enable in Windows ?

Right click on your desktop and select Display settings.

Scroll down to HDR, click on it and then make sure it is setup correctly.

If the Display capabilities say Not supported, then you may need to install drivers for your monitor. See the BenQ website:

You have opened another thread about the same problem you asked here. HDR settings say not support on current HDR monitor

Since no one gave you any solution in that thread (Sorry but I certainly don't have one), I suggest you look at similar threads to see if you can find answers.

HDR problems

i've been using madVR + potplayer for years. lately my movies have been looking washed out. after some trouble shooting i noticed if i go in to windows display settings and manually turn on HDR everything looks right. been having similar issues with games. HDR settings in game is greyed out...

Windows 11 Turns Off HDR Instantly

All of a sudden I can't enable HDR in Windows. The second I click "Use HDR", the button just goes from being on to instantly off. Seems to be a Windows-side issue as on the monitor everything is set up correctly to allow for HDR. Even before if HDR was turned off on the monitor it still allowed...

DisplayPort should be fine.

A quick Web search found this: HDR not supported

(Short version: turn off 10 bit color.)

Seems unlikely. I don't have an AMD graphics card to put it to the test. HDR is available with my nVidia card, whether it is set to 8 bit or 10 bit color.

I hope that you aren't running a dual monitor setup, with one of the monitors not HDR capable. I'm unsure that it wouldn't work, but I wouldn't bet on it.
