[Lock screen]​

Fixes​

[Input]​

  • Fixed an issue causing Insiders to see errors when attempting to use Voice Typing with certain languages such as Chinese.
  • Fixed an issue where if you went through Windows Setup (OOBE), pinyin would be unexpectedly displayed twice in the list of available input methods.

[Task Manager]​

  • Fixed an issue causing colors in the Performance section to not display correctly in dark mode.

[Settings]​

  • Fixed an issue causing the icons in Settings > Apps > Startup too be way too large for the available space for some users, causing them to be cut off.
  • Fixed an issue where Settings > System > Power & Battery unexpectedly had duplicate text when showing a warning about a slow charger.
  • Fixed an issue where the Windows Update page in Settings was not displayed correctly for some Insiders after the previous flight (no text shows). If you are impacted by this, the update to this build with the fix should still happen on its own, however you may need to wait a little bit.

Known issues​

[General]​

  • [IMPORTANT NOTE] We are investigating reports that some Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels are stuck on Build 26040 or Build 23620. The investigation is ongoing, however if you are impacted by this and really want to get onto the latest build in the Canary or Dev Channel today – you can download the latest ISO here and do a clean install and opt your device back into flighting in the Canary or Dev Channels.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel​

  • The builds we release to the Canary Channel should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows and features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Many features in the Canary Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.
  • To get off the Canary Channel, a clean install of Windows 11 will be required. As a reminder – Insiders can’t switch to a channel that is receiving builds with lower build numbers without doing a clean installation of Windows 11 due to technical setup requirements.
  • The desktop watermark shown at the lower right corner of the desktop is normal for these pre-release builds.

This is the one on current public Build 22631.3880, and shows the Personalized Microsoft Start when I click on Feed. 😂
The difference is that when it updated WWEP to 524.19900.0.0 on Canary and Dev, it did not work until after rebooting. 🤷‍♂️
We wasted enough time of this B.S. 😂😝

There is the extra Icon for signing in even with 2 columns. That is the way it should be on all. 😂😂😂🤷‍♂️

Not really bothered about it as it only goes to that Microsoft Start page eventually, which you can sign out of if wanted. They keep changing things for no apparent reason IMHO.

@fg2001gf11F - One issue I had with Beta Insiders until the last 3 builds was that when a new build is out and it does the reboot and installing 100% then going to the login screen, that first login would not show the nVidia icon or the PowerToys awake icon until I restart. The last 3 Beta versions seems to show both of those icons without having to do that reboot.

Yes, I know that is an old WWEP, the one I showed that has the icon is WWEP 524.18500.0.0.
That is the way it should be on all Builds. Why did they change it back with WWEP 524.19900.0.0?

Builds 26100.1150 R.P. and Beta 22635.3930 have the same WWEP Version, why change it to the old format with 524.19900.0.0 in Canary and Dev? Going backward?

Also, the behavior is inconsistent from one machine to another. I have one machine in Beta with Build 22635.3930 and widgets version 524.18500.0.0 that is also missing the sign in icon like in the second set of screen shots below. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️
Can MS ever get any of these features behaving consistently?

This release seems OK both as physical machine and VM on KVM/QEMU. Few problems encountered so far --and Language operating correctly again !!!!

Even Networking is behaving itself -- I've upgraded my NAS systems so I don't need SMB1 any more for connectivity -- nor links via Netbios name(s). Note latest SAMBA on some latest Linux distros has dropped SMB1 as well.

Try OPENSUSE Tumbleweed -- everything works and windows VM's can RDP to the full Linux GUI desktop just by installing xrdp. If you use KDE as a desktop then you need to use xorg not vnc in the linux xrdp logon. KDE doesn't support (yet) the VNC protocol via RDP and also with plasma-wayland. The main problem appears to be in the SDDM Window manager which is required for KDE both X11 and wayland versions.

Note -- you can run multiple (concurrent) RDP sessions to different NAS's / Linux installs without needing any extra (or any) port forwarding required if you use RDP's standard port. You can try this on Linux VM's and simply RDP FROM Windows --suggest in this case you run HYPER-V as Windows HOST.

I can't get KDE connectivity FROM WINDOWS currently in either Manjaro or ArchLinux or even latest release of Fedora -- so I just tested Opensuse tumbleweed -- and surprise - surprise -- RDP from Windows just worked straight OOB after installing XRDP (which includes the XRDP-xorg module). No config on the Linux side needed !!
