Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27950 to the Canary Channel.

Changes and Improvements​

[General]​

  • This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes that improve the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs.

[Settings]​

  • Advanced Settings will revert to the previous “For Developers” experience after updating to this build. This change will come back soon.

Fixes​

[General]​

  • Fixed an issue causing some Insiders to experience a rollback attempting to install the latest build with either an 0xC1900101-0x20017 error or 0xC1900101-0x30017 error.

[Taskbar and System Tray]​

  • Fixed an issue which could cause the app preview windows in the taskbar to become misaligned (away from the app icon you’d clicked / hovered over) after a display resolution change.

[File Explorer]​

  • Fixed an issue where interacting with the context menu in File Explorer could lead to the body of File Explorer becoming unresponsive to clicks.
  • Fixed an issue which could lead to certain apps hanging when launching the Open or Save Dialog.
  • Fixed an issue where with certain apps installed, when you right clicked you may see the context menu unexpectedly switch back and forth with each right click between the normal initial view and “Show more options”.

[Graphics]​

  • Fixed an which was causing some Insiders to experience screen flickers when using the browser (and potentially other scenarios) in the latest Canary builds.

    With all this gaming rig I am not a gamer!
Building uupdump ISO to see if they finally fixed it.
Previous 3 Canary uupdump builds are all causing problems with Store Apps updates. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️

Finally, the uupdump ISO 27950.1 worked correctly.
I did an update from 27943.1 to 27950.1 using the uupdump ISO and I did not get any of the problems updating and/or opening the Apps from MS store like on the previous Canary builds. 👍

Edit:
Done on several machines. Saved me from downloading multiple times with Windows Update on all my Canary machines. 😉
I also tested it with a clean install and had no problems.

Canary was a bird initially taken down a coal mine (if anybody on these Forums still knows what these were !!) to detect the presence of explosive methane and also lethal carbon monoxide gases -- i.e it was sent to TEST if the environment was safe enough for humans.

So presumably Canary build should be the First with new features etc to test the OS before releasing to regular builds for "normal" users.

I don't care though so long as the OS works efficiently, supports new hardware and isn't riddled with defects. The latest canary build works on my system just fine and seems to run a lot slicker than previous builds so maybe some debugging / analytical stuff has been removed and parts of the OS internals have been re-written more efficiently.

But these different insider levels are just plain Bonkers -- Just get back to say 2 Insider builds again (say fast / slow rings as @cereberus suggests) and one for RTM (regular build for normal users) or get back to releasing the semi-annual Service packs again for non insider users with just security and urgent fixes released as and when required.

I like those new builds, after months, RestoreHealth finally works for me. ResetBase was also fixed a few builds back.
Sadly, OS partition went back from 20GB to 24GB and it introduced some lags in Windows, Netflix and games. :weary:

The link seems to say that Canary build gets features first BEFORE DEV - but that doesn't seem to be the case any more plus the bonkers idea of A/B testing the same build rather invalidates the process as the same stuff isn't in the A/B versions !!!.

Currently though on my system the current latest Canary build seems the least bloated and bug ridden system -- although I'm running W11 Enterprise pro which itself being more for corporate / business users will have less things in it more appropriate for domestic, gaming and other hobbyist users.

Unless its been moved there's one defect in the latest (sep 19 ) canary build -- the "administrative settings" for language are gone (used to be in the time / language setting in settings) and the replacements just don't work 100% properly giving a whole rubbish language mixture again.

Why on earth does Ms remove things that are working PROPERLY -- did anybody have problems using the administrative language settings -- anyway the functionality is still available in the other insider builds (currently).

Language after update on Non Canary builds still working fine.

Note here I'm talking about Languages which aren't "installable " on the basic Windows system but those e.g Icelandic which come with a basic installable LISP / rather than a full blown basic language pack.
