Windows 11 Install Help Requested

Hi guys. Does anyone here use Steam on here with W11? When I tried to launch Steam Client, it said unable to connect to Steam Network. I went into Steam exe properties, and set it to run as Admin. Thing is, Steam said next that it is in "compatability mode", and to disable any compatability settings in the Steam exe properties. Anyone here with W11 get Steam Client to connect to it's Network? Help appreciated :)

Hi guys. I feel like I messed up on this. Am I on the final release build of W11? On Windows Insider Program settings page in W11, it says I am on build "22000.194 co_release". I followed the Verge link, but am worried I did this all wrong. On my W11 build, can I still get updates and such? Sorry, am really new to this and am confused how this all works. Should I go back to W10 and upgrade to W11 when it officially releases?
Here are my concerns/questions:

- If I read right, I need to do a clean install of W10 to opt out of Windows Insider Program?
- If I stick with this build, can I opt out of Insider after Oct 5th to get stable W11 build?
- Is it too late to do a clean install of W10 or 11?

Help appreciated :)

1. No you do not need to clean install, just select the option to leave the Insider Program (this is what you should do before Oct 5). It will not require a clean install. There will be updates, mabe 2nd Tuesday of every month.
2. You already have the stable build, 22000.194. It is already being offered to some Win 10 users that have qualifying PC's
3. You can clean install Win 10 or Win 11 whenever you want

Hi again guys. I am thinking about selling my MSI laptop and getting a new one. Thing is, I currently have build 22000.194 of Windows 11 installed, and the laptop came with Windows 10. I am thinking about doing a clean re-install of W10, but have a few questions before proceeding:

- Now that my laptop is on 11, can I go back to 10 with a clean install of that OS? I have W10 on a USB drive that I made with W10 Media Creation Tool.

- Should I sell laptop with the W11 build that I have? It is the release preview build I think. Otherwise, how can I get the release build of 11 and do a clean install of that?

Thoughts and help appreciated :)

Yes. you machine has a digital licence for Windows 10 stored on the Microsoft activation servers and linked to the hardware ID of the PC. You can clean install W10 at any time and it will activate from this digital licence (or W11, it uses the same digital licence).

Besides, if it came with W10 pre-installed by the OEM then it has its own W10 key embedded in its bios.

If you want to sell it with W11 there's no need for a clean install. The release version of W11 is the same one as the release preview build. But if you want to be certain any personal info is wiped before you sell it, then by all means clean install W11. There is a W11 Media Creation Tool freely available now.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

unsupported machine: Legacy bios, MBR, TPM 1.2, upgraded from W10 to W11 using W10/W11 hybrid install media workaround. In-place upgrade to 22H2 using ISO and a workaround. Feature Update to 23H2 by manually installing the Enablement Package. Also running Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds as a native boot .vhdx.

If you're going to sell it I'd back up all your personal files and make a note of program product keys and downloads, a screenshot of all programs installed in control panel, and a bookmarks back up.

Then wipe the drive, then clean install either Windows 10 or Windows 11. Then you can say in your advert "Hard drive wiped and full clean install of Windows whatever - all updates done.",

Personally I'd clean install Windows 11, do all the updates, and say in the advert that buyer can install Windows 10 if they prefer, or you will reinstall Windows 10 if they prefer and to let you know.

Second download on this page. "Create Windows 11 Installation media". You can do it straight to a usb stick with the media creation tool.

I received a new Notebook yesterday, updated to the latest Win10 Build then using Download Windows 11 downloaded the Windows 11 Installation Assistant and ran it. From the dropoff by UPS to finished was just over 3 hours and everything is good. I set it up as a Local Account with Administrative Rights and the only thing prompting for the Microsoft login is the Widgets on the Taskbar, can live without that for now.
