Windows 11
Hi There,

I have had these weird long BOOT times even though I have had some good SSDs have had it Since I was on Windows 10 and have been carried over to Windows 11 when the update came in this computer is a Workstation that I use for Work and gaming and has plenty of HDDs so I am not sure if that could affect boot times but I have had this issue across multiple SSDs.

I had it with my 500GB Crucial Sata SSD so I upgraded to a PCI-E Intel 750 400GB boot-up times remained the same I have upgraded again to a Samsung 980Pro NVME but my boot times have actually increased I always used Acronis True Image that came free with my Crucial Drive to clone my OS to a new drive fast boot works well when it works but cold boot and restarts take several minutes which doesn't make sense, especially with this new drive.

my Specs are Ryzen 5800X, 64GB DDR4 3200 9HDDs and 1TB Samsung 980 Pro, and 1TB Kingston A2000.

I can't afford to do a clean install as it would take too much time to re-install all my apps and settings.

I have ran a boot trace and I have tried to look at it with Windows Performance Analyzer but I don't have any idea what I need to look and looking at guides online doesn't help either.

if anyone can help me, please. (posted this in the Windows 10 forums but was asked to repost it here as I have Windows 11)

boot-up speed is the same even on Safe mode already tried removing the Drives didn't change a thing.
Already tried to do a clean boot but still no changes, the system stays at the Windows LOGO and the spinning circle for a very long time spinning circle spins up to 20 times or more.

let me know what settings I need to choose for the Windows performance recorder in order to get the file size down as much as possible in case you guys need my ETL file.

disabling Fastboot/Hibernation made it slightly faster but nowhere near what I used to get on Windows 10 1607 first noticed long boot times after updating to 1703 and it has only gotten worst since then just kept ignoring it as I thought I only needed a better SSD I honestly spent the extra money to get a Gen4 SSD just to get my boot times under control but was not expecting no improvements at all.

all my drives are healthy and has a good status according to Crystal Disk Mark.

Make sure to uninstall and install the newest versions of device drivers.

Please type the below command into Command Prompt to schedule check disk and press Enter key.

Following command will fix errors on the disk and locates bad sectors and recovers readable information.

Code:
Chkdsk C: /r

Please type the bellow commands into Command Prompt one at a time and press Enter key.

The following command scans integrity of all protected Windows system files and repairs files with problems when possible.

Code:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Sfc /Scannow

Malwarebytes' scanner
If this program is already installed: Skip the installation and run only the scan!
Download and install: Please download Malwarebytes' scanner to your desktop.
  • Double-click mb3-setup-consumer-3.x.x.xxxx and follow the prompts to install the program.

I have already ran a Checkdisk /r and I have already ran this dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and this Sfc /Scannow and have done so multiple times now and they always found no errors all my drivers are already the latest available from ASUS and Nvidia.

Malwarebytes and Super anti spyware always find nothing but cookies that I always select to be deleted and no spyware is found.

I really think it is a driver issue and one that Windows auto installs and not one from the manufacturer and I think everything that I need to know can be found on a boot trace but because of my large RAM size the ETL file is around 4OGB uncompressed and is at 1.9GB compressed and I have no idea what to look for using the Windows performance analyzer so I am a bit stuck.

someone from the Windows 10 forums told me that I can change some settings to make the ETL file smaller so that it can be easier to share but he never actually told me what I needed to change with the settings of the Windows performance recorder to get it smaller.

You said even booting to Safe Mode slow, have you reset BIOS to factory default settings to see problem resolves.

Resetting the BIOS settings does nothing have had the issue for years now as explained in my original post This motherboard, processor and SSD are all new have had the issue with my original Asus ROG X370 Gaming-f and Ryzen 3700X system which I just upgraded from the SSD itself is just a few weeks old so there are no bad sectors it is a Samsung 980 pro. doing an upgrade install of Windows 11 does not fix it either.

This is why I really need someone to look at my boot trace as I feel that is my only hope in finding the cause of my long boot times.

If you open the command prompt and simply type PERFMON and then from Performance Monitor window look under Reports to view the system performance report.

Also check Event Viewer.

Midway down this page, options to 'lighten' the performance report:
How to collect a good boot trace on Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016 using WPRUI.
I followed this guide and choose the detail level to light and I was able to create an 8GB ETL file and it is over 700MB compressed not sure if I can make it any smaller the settings I had are below.
I am not sure if this will have enough details on it to show the cause of my long boot times but the I have it uploaded to google drive.

I was able to decrease boot times by disabling legacy USB support in the BIOS but still not within the BOOT times I used to get but it is a lot more better Here you go with the logs.
