Solved Windows 11 printer drivers for HP

As I recall, this forum does not deal with printers and drivers, however I’m hoping that I can get some suggestions for a resolution.

I just bought a HP printer that is made to be used as a network/Wi-Fi printer. 3-4 hours after trying to get it connected, I tried my iPhone and MacBook - instant connection.

Solved!! I'd better be careful otherwise I may be banned from this forum: the printer connection problem had nothing to do with drivers! I had to get my Windows 11 computer setup for WiFi (it is EtherNet connected).

For others having the same issue, first make sure the network is set to Private, not Public so you are allowed access to shared resources. Also if you are trying to install a shared printer and get an error, search this forum with the error number to see the solution. This is because latest Windows 10 and 11 versions have changed some security settings and a Registry hack to restore the older compatible settings is required.

I've found Window fights the HP printers. If windows found your printer delete it and then install the software for you printer from the HP website and let it find your printer. If that doesn't work you can use the HP scan and print doctor program to fix conflicts.

Make sure you download the FULL printer software from HP, if applicable, avoid HP Smart Print. If it is not available from Windows 11, select Windows 10 64-bit or 8 64-bit or even 7 64-bit.
