Windows 11
Hello guys !!

There is a little problem with the time/clock on my pc.

It's always some seconds ahead of the actual time.

I sync it 10 days ago and after 7 days it was 3 secs ahead and today it's 8 secs ahead, so it's 0.5-1 sec ahead per day.

Is it a battery problem ?? The motherboard is a gigabyte b550 aorus elite and I bought it exactly 3 years ago.

Can something else cause this problem ?? Software ?? The windows itself ??

Thanks in advance !!

I just click on "Sync now" on "Date & time" settings in windows. The sync works, but as i said day after after it's 0.5-1 secs ahead

Edit: Right now, after maybe 3 hours, the time is 0,2 sec behind, according to the website time.is. I don't know why is behind and not ahead, but i'm pretty sure that tomorrow will be ahead.

Look in Task Schedular, Microsoft, Windows, Time Synchronization. You can set the interval there.

So, what settings i must change ?? I have the same settings.

Also as you can see, in the SynchronizeTime in the Last Run Results there is an error, ( or at least, i think it's an error) (0x420). Whats that ??1.png

You probably need to experiment with changing the time server(s). In the pic I posted check the "If task fails, restart every:" box and again experiment with different intervals.

The website time.is. But there are many other websites with the same accuracy as time.is. Also many greek sites (i'm greek).

Now the the time is stucked at 0.4 sec behind, even if i sync it.

In addition to the other suggestions, You might need to replace the cmos battery on your motherboard depending on the age of the machine. 3 Years shouldn't be long enough for it to die, but the battery doesnt cost much to try to replace it to see what happens.

Typically though, if your cmos battery is dead the bios settings will reset and you will get a message on boot. If that is not happening, probably isn't the cmos.

Do you have Fast Start disabled in Power Options?

I found over several years that whenever I did this the clock stopped syncing. It should look like this, ticked and greyed out.

Right now I will not replace the cmos battery, it's right behind the gpu, it's not that difficult to do it, but I'm bored right now. I have changed at least 8-9 settings in bios and the battery is keep them without a problem, do I don't know if that's the problem.

I always disable it after a clean install.

In my pc the windows time service is "Manual (Trigger Start)" I think that's the default as I didn't change it.
Did you change it or it was "Automatic (Delayed Start)" by default ??

Mine is also set to manual triggered start.

Make sure your not using a vpn that is turned on and do the following:

Try doing this, right click the clock and choose adjust date and time. Toggle off the set time zone automatically and the set time automatically setting.

Wait a bit and then re-enable them. See what happens over time.

The RTC circuit used in many PCs is notoriously inaccurate. I have multiple machines on which time drifts by at LEAST 5 seconds per day.

I run a third party utility that syncs the time every 15 minutes. Is this overkill? Sure. I could probably change it to sync once every few hours, but this seems to work well for me.

It's a desktop pc, it doesn't have gps, so, the set time zone automatically is off and gray out.
that doesn't matter. If it's grayed out, you probably have location services turned off.

Step 1: Press the Win + I keys to open the Settings interface.

Step 2: Click the Privacy & Security tab on the left-side side.

Step 3: Scroll down to App permissions and click Location to explore it.

Step 4: On the right-hand pane, set Location services to On. Set Let apps access your location to On.

The truth is that I don't want to install another program just to correct the time by some seconds.

Can I edit the SyncronizeTime in the task schedule to sync the time more frequently and get the same results ??

In that case, just create a scheduled task in Task Scheduler to resync time as frequently as you want.

BTW, I can understand not wanting to run an app, but you might consider that this particular app is very light weight coming in at well under 1MB in size. It also seems to be bulletproof. I have been running it for a few years now and never even know that it is there.

The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.
