Solved Windows 11 Will Not Install Using Microsoft Window 11 Pro Disc

None of those things will work anyway unless the UEFI/BIOS is up to date.

It is not necessary to update the UEFI/BIOS.

My earlier post wasn’t very clear, here’s a better one:

The ASUS PRIME Z370-A is Windows 11 Ready after updating to BIOS version 3004 or later, at which point TPM 2.0 is enabled by default.

Alternatively, you can manually enable TPM 2.0 in the UEFI/BIOS. And that’s already done!

I downloaded and ran PC health check app and is was my TPM not enabled. So I went BIOS and enabled the TPM.

I wondered about that afterward when I remembered that it was Gen 8. It didn't make sense to me that this would be a requirement after the next generation. With Gen 7 I had to flash the BIOS. I still think it might be a wise idea to make sure the BIOS is up to date.

So Last night I tried to install win 11 using rufus and windows iso (win11_25H2_English_x64). But every time somewhere about 50-60% it just shut off. I was not looking at the screen at the exact time. but each time i came back nothing. Everything was the same rufus in taskbar. Tried it a couple times same result. It was strange nothing telling me it failed or any info it was like i never did anything. Ty Sean

Also remember to disconnect all other drives to eliminate some of the variables before attempting install. Flashing the BIOS might also require a re-activation of your TPM as well. If you are using soft RAID you will need to re-activate this also. (Most people don't use it but I do.) As an after thought, all expansion cards and peripherals (apart from your keyboard, mouse, and monitor) should be disconnected. It is a good practice to keep things as bare bones as possible when flashing your BIOS. Leaving it that way until your installation is complete is also prudent.

Graphics Card(s): NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT

ChatGPT:

Conclusion: The GeForce 9500 GT fails to meet the official Windows 11 graphics requirements — namely DirectX 12 compatibility and WDDM 2.0 driver support. That means even if you install it, you’re very likely to experience limited functionality, no official driver support, and possibly degraded performance or features.

🔍 What this means in practice

  • While you may be able to install Windows 11 on a system with a 9500 GT (especially if bypassing hardware-checks), you won’t have official driver support for the card on Windows 11.
  • The last driver (circa 2016) was aimed at Windows 10 servicing; it is not certified for Windows 11, and may not install or function fully.
  • Features dependent on newer driver models (like advanced DirectX 12 features, hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling, etc.) will not be available.
  • For basic desktop use (web browsing, office work) it might “work enough” if Windows falls back to a basic driver, but for gaming, full hardware acceleration, or reliability one should not expect full support.
  • For long-term usage, especially with Windows updates rolling in, you may run into system instability, missing driver updates, or compatibility issues.

The card was released in 2008. It is nearly 18 years old. It would probably work okay with Linux depending on what it is used for although NVIDIA drivers were a problem with Linux back in the day. A fellow could save it for their own personal Smithsonian or educational purposes. Myself, as a rule, I deem anything going back to the turn of the millennium worthy of recycling. Not everyone shares this view.

Removing that card may or not be the whole of your issue. I hope that it is but I'm assuming you ran Windows with this card already without good reason.

Just the same I would remove it permanently from that platform as it amounts to putting wooden cart wheels on a Ferrari. Look at this chip:

The built in graphics on your CPU will run circles around your graphics card.

I can't help wondering where your monitor was plugged in all this time. (Just sayin'.)

You should NOT need to look around for another graphics card at this point. You have built in, on board graphics. Remove the card and roll with those first.

You have three different ports to choose from right on your system board. You're already set to go.

As an added tidbit of advice I recommend that you do NOT install AVG free VS. One thing MS actually does exceptionally well is maintaining an effective data base for virus definitions. MS has one of the best virus protection apps in the world. Unless you're doing seriously intensive stuff such as networking I would recommend just sticking with Windows anti-virus. These "free" virus scanners are not really free. When you use theme you become the product and they become glorified data collectors. (Just sayin'.)

I found a couple graphic cards. ( Pny GeForce GTX 950 - Radeon Rx 560 4GB ). Dont Think They are much better then what I alredy have installed. I might have more but not going to be any newer then any of these ones. I dont mind buying a new video card but I dont want to pay $400 or $500 if possible. I know good one cost even more. You know any good cards not so expensive. If not its all good I will figure something out. Also to answer your question my Motherboard does not have built in video onboard. And i use windows defender and avg but don't like the avg was going to uninstall anyways. you think the windows defender is good on it's own. Thanks for your help/info i really appreciate it . This windows 11 is turning into a pain in the ass. Maybe switch to linux. Ha

Linux isn't for everyone but neither is Win 11. You have an Asus Prime Z370-A listed as your system board. What motherboard are you currently trying to fix or make Windows 11 work on? Evidently I missed something. The RX 560 is not a half bad little card. The RX 570 is much better. I have both among others. I also have a 590. These are all older cards and TBH if you do any sort of gaming I'd recommend getting a GFX card with at least 8GB of RAM as today's games tend to be quite memory intensive.

Sure. My point is that you should not have to purchase a graphics card in order to install Windows 11 on your Asus Prime Z370-A system board. The board features on board graphics. Have you looked carefully at your system board? The CPU you are using also comes with UHD integrated graphics. Unless your motherboard is fried or your CPU is defective you have integrated graphics on that platform.

I found a couple graphic cards. ( Pny GeForce GTX 950 - Radeon Rx 560 4GB ).

You actually have them? Try the Radeon RX 560, if you know it to be working. It is Polaris based released in 2017 so should be EFI ready. Any 9th Gen Core processors that have the "F" designation in the model # are lacking integrated graphics. e.g. 9500F or 9600KF. The rest have integrated processor graphics that output display via one of the back I/O panel connectors on your Prime Z370-A (one each DVI, HDMI, and DP). There were NO 8th gen Core processors that lacked the graphics part. So if you have 8th gen Core or Pentium, no need to confirm the model, ALL came with processor graphics enabled.

The CPU he has listed is an Intel Core i7-8700K. The processor comes with integrated graphics. So I don't know what the deal is. Either he's yanking my chain or, he has defective hardware or, he just doesn't know what he has. If he wants to do that CPU justice he needs to raise the bar a little higher or stick with the onboard graphics. Myself, I wouldn't put anything less than an RX 590 on that thing or perhaps a decent (used) RTX 3070 tried and tested. But that's just me. He could probably get away with an RX 570 if he isn't fussy. I'm assuming he's a gamer. TBH I'm not all too sure how well the 50 series NVIDIA cards work with older platforms, but I do know that there are a lot of problems with these cards and there's a good chance that he'll be looking at getting another PSU just to run the card if he goes that route.

He got around the installation failure already? I thought he still stuck not getting Windows even installed far enough yet to think about his GPU performances.

You should install Windows 11 on the computer without the old graphics card to find out if the graphics card is really the problem.
If the computer has internal graphics, that is a very good idea. Make it simple as possible.
