Hello fellows,
Having an issue on a windows 11 25H2 after some windows updates (not sure which one caused it)
The taskbar icons (only windows apps, like terminal, outlook new etc.) show as a gray empty rectangle. [see attached screenshot] ]When dragging it to the desktop the icon shows normally.
Issue is only for a specific windows profile, if someone else logs in everything is ok. Trying to avoid a windows profile reset though.
Already done:
1. rebuild icon cache

2. "HKCU\Software\Classes\.png\shellex\" solution didn't help.

3.re-register shell experience
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
4.checking iconhandler
Anyone another suggestion on how to find the root cause or solution would be even nicer
. I tried messing around with procmon but couldn't pin point the location of the issue (eg. regkey, appdata folder)
Thanks alot in advance, even if you decide to fly away after reading my post (at least you took the time to read my post until the end)
