Solved Windows goes black after reboot, when installing a new driver or Win-update

Hello.
When installing a new driver for ie graphic card, soundcard, some windows updates and other drivers, after the reboot, windows boots normal, to lockscreen, I type my pincode, and then the screen goes black with only the mousepointer to be seen. Windows is running in the background, and CTRL-ALT-DEL brings the lockscreen to front, to change user, reboot aso. Even in safe mode, windows goes black after typing my pin-code. When it happens, I have to restore my C-drive (with Acronis) to before this new driver update, and then all is ok again as long as I don't update drivers or Windows 11.
All this started with a faulty driver update of my HP Laser-printer, but I idiot does not have a backup from BEFORE the HP-update, only after, som I can't go back to before updating the HP-driver.

Can anybody give a clue to what is going on? It must have something to do in Windows driver-core I think because it also affect Safe Mode.

Where are you downloading the drivers? Is it from the manufacturer or Windows Update? I have always found the best source to be the manufacturer. As a final thought you may be able to roll back the driver. Check the link below for some information.

On Windows 11, to roll back driver to previous version, open the hardware properties from Device Manager and click Roll Back Driver option.

I download graphic driver from Nvidia, printerdriver from HP, soundcard driver from Creative, Windows updates from Windows. I can't roll the faulty printerdriver back. I tried to uninstall HP completely, and then reinstall it again, but same thing happend. After reboot, typing pincode, and the balck screen is back. In normal mode and in Safe Mode.

After taking a closer look at your Windows 11 build number it appears that you are using a beta version; Windows 11 ver: 22623.1028. Most likely the issue is related to that build. You may have better success posting in that group, see below, or try using the general release Windows 11 ver: 22621.900.

Install build 22623.1028​

If you want to download and install the Windows 11 build 22623.1028, you need to enroll your device in the Beta Channel using the “Windows Insider Program” settings from the “Update & Security” section.

I don't use either Developer or Beta versions, so I don't know if that's the problem.

Be careful when you update your graphics driver and make sure it matches your processor build! The wrong graphics driver can crash your graphics card.

If the card in question is the RTX 3090 in the OP's "my computer" listing. it's unlikely that the installer would permit the wrong drivers.

Yes, the monitor-driver is installed, and has been for a time now. Yes, it is a pretty good monitor 😊

Did the reinstall fix your problem? If it did I suggest that you make a backup image to an external drive. It's a little more than needed but I use three imaging programs. I use Macrium Reflect, Ashampoo Backup Pro 15 and EasUs Todo Backup 13.5. Macrium is my number one choice. In the future, if you run into any Windows problems that you can't fix, You can try a In -place repair install before doing a clean install. Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial

Yes, the reinstall did fix it. I normally use Acronis as backup, but the error has been there for so long, that my last working bckup was deleted (I save 4 bckups in a chain). Now I will try to find a different way to store my bckups
