Windows Hardware Compatibility Program guidance for Windows 11 version 26H2

Microsoft is pleased to announce Windows 11, version 26H2, the annual feature update. Version 26H2 shares the same servicing branch and underlying code base as Windows 11, version 25H2, and is delivered to eligible devices running version 25H2 through a lightweight enablement package (eKB). This shared servicing approach allows partners to continue using the existing WHCP certification baseline, with products certified under the Windows 11, version 25H2 designation.

WHCP certification for version 26H2​

Microsoft will not introduce a separate WHCP certification designation, HLK kit, submission process, or driver-signing program for Windows 11, version 26H2. Products that complete the applicable HLK validation under existing WHCP 25H2 requirements will continue to be certified under the Windows 11, version 25H2 designation.

Drivers digitally signed for Windows 11, version 25H2 may be used on systems running Windows 11, version 26H2. This continues the existing signing approach and does not establish a new 26H2-specific driver-signing program.

What partners need to do​

For system models already certified for Windows 11, version 25H2, no additional WHCP action is required for version 26H2.

For new system models intended to ship with Windows 11, version 26H2, partners should complete the following using the existing WHCP process:

• Conduct system-level testing on Windows 11, version 26H2 using the exact OEM-preinstalled image.
• Ensure that all third-party drivers included in that image are digitally signed for Windows 11, version 25H2.
• Complete the applicable HLK validation under existing WHCP requirements. The resulting certification will use the Windows 11, version 25H2 designation.

Component-level submissions

Windows 11, version 26H2 doesn't introduce any new WHCP requirements or HLK, components and drivers already certified for Windows 11, version 25H2 do not need to be recertified for version 26H2. Their existing Windows 11, version 25H2 signatures remain valid for use on systems running version 26H2.

Partner Center and Hardware Compatibility List​

Partner Center submissions and Hardware Compatibility List entries for these products will continue to display the Windows 11, version 25H2 certification designation. A separate Windows 11, version 26H2 designation will not be available.
