My MUCH older system with the Realtek 2.5Gb adapter benchmarks at 276 / 145 on the first utility and 946 / 940 on the second utility.

Just in case it helps at all, here are my Network Adapter settings for the Realtek card:

Wake on pattern match: Enabled
WOL & Shutdown Link Speed: 10 Mbps First

That was prettyy much my setup originally, I followed a few tutorials for "optimising" realtek cards and some of your I had disabled. I think I'll delete in device manager and try again with the default settings.

I think since I can get 900+ in Linux the problem must be in Windows. And wet farts out of dead pigeons - ecxcellent!

One more thing to add: I've had some odd issues when I playing around with stuff and got myself into some real weird networking problems. What helped me greatly was this:

Go to Start > Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset

That's helped me on a couple of instances. Note that choosing that network reset option will reboot the system.

What ISP are you using that you get higher upload speeds than download speeds?

Anyway, I'm just amazed at the amount of upload speed you have. My provider (Cox cable) only provides 10Mbps upload, 500 download. We're severely throttled by Cox Communications in my area, York County VA.

Sorry Dru2, I'm in the UK so unlikely you will have heard of BT. Quite a lot of UK has gigabit speeds. You could look at Starlink in the USA.

Yeah, the upload speed (or lack of it) was always a sore point for me as well. But this makes a big difference. I've only been on Frontier for maybe 6 months at the most now, but I must say that I am exceptionally happy with it.

Thanks, but I was taking to @hsehestedt since he's the one using Frontier Communications, which is who I was asking about.

BTW, I'm in the U.S, so I can't speak of anything ISP overseas.

Just a fair question for those with the RealTek NICs - do these drivers come with 'management software' that also gets installed?

If so, do these software have any weird settings in them, like turbo boost, or anything like that?

I have Killer Networks NICs for my 1 Gb and 2.5 Gb (and a Marvell 10 Gb, but that is neither here nor there) and I've found that installing the full driver package from Killer (now Intel) installs services and apps that, honestly, only make my speeds slower than they really are.

I've given up trying to use them and do custom installs now that only install the drivers whenever there is an update.

If not, then have to chalk it up to Windows. I'm assuming not, as @hsehestedt would probably have said something to that effect, but never hurts to check.

Finally, check and see what all is running in Windows that might be maintaining an active connection. Also, test in more than a single browser, as one browser may have settings enabled that affect the rate you're getting, as well.

Oddly enough, I no longer use my Killer NIC port as my Linksys mess router (MR9000 Max-Steam AC3000) refuses to work with it on my motherboard. It did work with my older Linksys (AC3200 Max-Stream EA 8500) router.

Anyway, my board features dual NIC ports (Killer / Intel) so I've just been using the Intel port since I bought the AC3000 in 2019. I suspect there's a compatibility issue between the "Mess" capabilities of the AC3000 router and Killer NIC, but I've not researched that.

Im through spectrum internet in the US. I have full speeds using Windows 11 and even full speed using a good VPN to boot. Im getting 900 some MB per second on 1Gig service. So I dont think windows 11 is doing anything funky

No, no weird software. Just the driver and they also have a separate Diagnostic Utility on their web site that you can download. I've never even tried the diag utility, but maybe I will give it a try just to see what it does.

Thought I'd give you an update on my speed. After yet another google search I came across a proposed fix of reseting the ipv4 stack. After I did and restarted the PC I was getting speeds of 10!!! So, after a hasty system restore (2 days ago restore point so still had the speed issues then) I am now getting the above! Fast is reporting 910! What's going on? It looks like it's something to do with my network settings although this is the first time I've messed with them. I'll see if these speeds remain over the next while. Might it be an idea to do a fresh install of Windows?

Try again after getting a new ethernet driver package and installing it from the motherboard manufacturer's website. I've seen something like this with 10 on my now defunct MSI B450 Tomahawk.
