Hey all, not sure if this problem has been adressed previously but I need to get rid of this stupid malware-esque pop up.

A few weeks back my computer started showing a pop up saying "Windows is having trouble connecting to your work account". I went into my account settings and tried to disconnect it, but because it's an account that goes through godaddy I have to log in to their site to manage the account. And because I don't work there anymore, I forgot my password and every time I try to reset it, it says that the email I used for the account doesnt exist.

So I need a way to delete the account or get rid of the pop up permanently without having to log in to godaddy's external site. Any advice would be welcome.

I would ask GoDaddy to help reset the password/re-create the account temporarily. Tell them your issue you stated here, that you need to log into the account to remove it from your Windows setup.
Here's their contact information:

If I understand correctly your computer is trying to connect to your old work account which is not a local user but a domain user. Well I am not sure if it can be done, but you can convert that domain user to local Administrator user and it will never try to connect to the domain to authenticate again. An alternative is to create a local Administrator account, copy all your user data and files to the new account and delete the old one. This however will have all applications at default settings and you will have to configure each one again, unless you can copy the old configuration. It's a pain, have done it too.
