Windows Recall running again?

I just found around ~2GB of data in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CoreAIPlatform.00\UKP\* folder. The aixhost.exe and aihost.exe services/processes running in Windows 11. Again, I am puzzled how Windows Recall is running because I use a local account. I have Recall disabled in Windows 11 25H2 26200.8246, and Windows Hello is not enabled. Recall app is not even installed.

I am not sure how long it has been running collecting data, apparently, but I cannot disable Recall as it already disabled.

To uninstall Windows 11 Recall, open the Start menu, type "Turn Windows features on or off," locate "Recall" in the list, uncheck it, and restart your computer. Alternatively, use an elevated command prompt with DISM /Online /Disable-Feature /FeatureName:"Recall" to remove the AI component entirely.

I found other Windows users reporting the same concern. That is about all. Microsoft is probably collecting something, who knows what.

There is nothing to disable or uninstall. I decided to install Recall to see if uninstalling would remove/disable Recall. However, Recall remains active in the background. Seems to be part of the .KB5083769 (26200.8246) update.

The AI services are still running on that computer. There is now around ~5.3GB of data in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CoreAIPlatform.00\UKP\* folder. I haven't used that computer and Recall data has been increasing.

I found out from a very resourceful person that Microsoft is using Recall to pull more telemetry and other data from systems. Supposedly there was an OOBE update that caused this to run visibly that Microsoft is correcting. This Recall process will be hidden soon.

Hmm... this person is a very reliable source for information, but I remain extremely skeptical if this is true. I have found Recall running in the background on several more Windows 11 computers.

You haven't shown Recall running. You said you saw aixhost.exe and aihost.exe, which is not Recall.

Correct, Recall app itself is not running. These two services relate to Recall, among other AI services. Looking in Task Manager - details, the processes are linked to Recall (along with AI services) and the %LOCALAPPDATA%\CoreAIPlatform.00\UKP folder has a few files in it now. I was able to delete the files that were there, could not read them (binary files) and deleted the files through Hiren's BootCD. No images were saving.

I am going to uninstall KB5083769 to see if it goes away.

I kept opening the OptionalFeatures window and it always shows Recall is not selected.

I restarted Windows 11 and immediately open OptionalFeatures and found Recall selected. However, Recall is not even set up on this computer. I unselected this option, click OK, Window restarted and shows a black window "System disabled" with the progress wheel. Windows 11 restarted again and seems normal for now.

All data cleared out from %LOCALAPPDATA%\CoreAIPlatform.00\UKP.
