Windows Store Problem

Every Single day when i open it to check for any updates, always the same ones keep appearing on my Windows 11 24H2 26100.4202 install

Is there a way to fix this?

So what actually happens when you install those store apps rather than just checking for updates? Does it actually install them or does it give you an error message or what exactly is it that happens?

Seems to actually install, but then if i check again tomorrow or in a few days--same ones show up again

Then Recent update list doesn't even show those afterwards

My Last system clean install was on 12/25/2024

System should be fine, as i try to maintain it really well

The only thing that I can really think to suggest is that next time you're presented with some of the same apps for update take a look at the currently installed app and note the version number then allow the store to perform the updates and see if the version number has actually changed. At least this way you will know whether you are legitimately really getting updates or if there is some sort of a problem here.

Ok will check that tomorrow morning most likely when the list will show again as it typically does each day.

And Hopefully is all normal after that


**Did Enable a while back Defender for Individuals, Part of Office 365, not sure i really needed to, but had MS Rewards offer for 500 Points if i enabled it lol, so i was like ok will enable lol**

Other than that, no tweaks or changes on anything

List Came up again, i didn't even click Check for updates, Opened the store, and had the list again, same apps

Version before the update for Microsoft News--4.55.62231.0

After update same

Microsoft media Player
11.2504.4.0

Same it appears also for Media Player

any other ideas?

Update: Think i got it fixed by doing the following steps

Resetting Windows MS App store

Clearing Software Distribution folder

Restarting system

So far the list hasn't come up again since doing the above steps, did also successfully update Phone Link, first app that wasn't in the original list that showed recently, and it also updated a few more--Store experience host, HP Smart

So think system is A ok now, and yes after restarted system did run sfc /scannow and Dism online cleanup restore health commands--no problems found there either.

So think all is well now, but might wait to make this solved til early tomorrow to make sure original issue doesn't return

Well Not Fully sorted, but not sure what else i can do on this matter

Reset the WIndows store app more times than i can count

Scanned with Sfc /scannow

Dism as well

Still showing the same apps, but now down to only 2, even after a Windows 11 Repair Install via Windows Update--((next step is a complete clean install when i got time to tackle that--imagine that would fix it for good permanently, but that's going to have to wait, as too many things going on in RL to tackle that right now) ((Windows Camera, and WIndows Media Player--both staying same versions, but store says update available pretty often) i hit update all, and then check versions again, still same lol)

Guess i'll start preparing for clean install, soon as RL crap is outta the way after June 10th, and go from there

**Whatever day i decide to do the clean install to fix this issue for good, i know i'll have to shutdown system, open Tempered glass side of Case, disconnect my 2nd M.2 to prevent Windows from installing on that drive, and disconnect my Sata Extra storage drive. Get Windows installed on Boot M.2, all Updates in, Macrium Reflect backup done, then re shutdown, and reinstall Game M.2, and Reconnect Storage drive**

Wonder if i messed up the store switching between New Outlook & Classic Outlook too much--anyways i will get this fixed someway, somehow

After 2 System Resets--Windows store still acting the same

First Reset was Keep Files, then i had problem with Onedrive

2nd Reset was Remove everything, now have 1 OneDrive, and seems to be fine, but Windows Store app keeps updating the same apps daily still. Should i bother with a Clean Install as yet? thinking of doing one as soon as i can and praying it fixes it for good

Doing a Whole Windows 11 Clean Install as soon as i can with my busy real life, hoping for sometime really soon on that aspect

Then i hope its solved for good, if not after the clean install, i guess i give up til 25H2 releases and see if solves with future update.

Open to any other suggestions as well

I get an Event ID 2562 Info event every time a MS Store update completes successfully. These updates always go through properly and update as expected. As far as I can work out, this is more a problem with how the event message is generated. A Windows CU recently broke this for me. It was also around the time I completely removed One Drive from my system, so I also wonder if this had something to do with it?

At any rate, my PC appears to get MS Store updates as normal, apart from the info event (2562), so I'm going to ignore it and not reinstall Windows 11. Not worth the hassle as everything else appears to function as normal.

I also get these 'phantom' MS News and Camera app downloads that don't actually update - no event 2562 is recorded and reliability monitor / event viewer doesn't show these apps updating. When I go into these apps or try to update them manually, it says I'm on the latest version. I don't use these apps ever, so, again, I'm not too interested in fixing this.

I'm interested in fixing it at moment, just finding the time for a clean install the way my Real Life is these days is not easy, plus learned having 3 Drives in this Desktop with same Capacity (1TB each) figuring out which one is the boot NVMe isn't exactly easy either lol, so thats delaying clean install a little bit as well.

Who knows i may eliminate the Sata SSD, as i got several externals, and having only 2 NVMe's internal i feel should be easier if i ever need to clean install again.

But i will get it done asap here, and hopefully all is well after that

Please let me know how it goes when you clean install - let me know if you get the same store error.

BTW, when you reinstall windows you can view the size on each disk. This should help you find the correct drive to format / install to. Just take a note of the free space on each disk before you reinstall so you can differentiate between the drives.
(I know this because I had the same thing with 2 identical SSDs).

I will update this Topic after the Clean Install and report on any errors or if its fixed or not, if not then guess stop worrying about this lol.

Update: Clean Install done as of 6/16/2025

So far everything working peachy fine, including MS Store apps, No so far daily updating of apps like previously.

Hopefully stays like this for a very long time, about to do my 2nd system backup once i get the drive connected to this Desktop

Started Clean install at 8:30am yesterday, was mostly finished by 11:30am, minus a few little touchups, and settings things to do at the time

((though i do have Comcast Xfinity 1100Mbps/35Mbps Internet speed, so that might've played a roll, as everything was very quick to do, even the All the Windows updates))

Good to know. Thanks for updating. I did a fresh install around this time last year so I’m loathe to do it again so soon.

My system is working as expected aside from those event viewer info notes.

Still, maybe I will reinstall down the line. Cheers.
