Hey guys I use winget often in both win 10 & win 11, I always update & run my windows OS installs unattended.
I like to update the appinstaller & dependencies offline, the previous April 2026 version updated fine, though I'm finding
the July 2026 version I can only update online post install. Does anyone have some pointers with this?

While command line parameters are useful if you know what you are doing, for all of us that prefer a GUI alternative, there is UniGetGUI (formerly WinGetGUI). This scans for updates in the background and notifies you. You can configure it to install updates automatically or let you manually decide. You can also configure it to ignore certain applications that you prefer not to update or want to update without winget by manually downloading the respective installer.

    Legacy MBR installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 graphics drivers, no SSE4.2, cannot get more unsupported ;) This is only my test laptop. I had installed Windows 11 here before upgrading my main PC. For my main PC I use everyday see my 2nd system specs.

I use dism offline to integrate sample code below, along with the appinstaller dependencies files.

If you skip the license, DesktopAppInstaller (and any other UWP app) has to wait until Windows connects to the Store back-end (right after OOBE) to get its free license before winget is activated.

1. Include the License1.xml when you useDISM /Add-ProvisionedAppxPackageto avoid this delay. All of the DesktopAppInstaller releases on GitHub will have a copy of the license file in the release files.

2. Or run a PS command to force immediate license activation from Post-Setup:
