Wordpad Defaults

Being old and a creature of habit, I've been using "Wordpad" for a very long time. It's always done everything I need in a simple and quick word processor, text editor.
But lately, I've found a problem that I'd really like to solve.

Any time I want to save some text, from any location, I copy and paste it into Wordpad and it comes up with double line spacing.
Then, I have to go in and manually change the line spacing from 1.5 to just 1.0.

So, if it were possible to just change the defaults in Wordpad, that would be the simple fix for my problem.
I tried to find the answer to this on the web, but all I got was Mumbo Jumbo.

OH, I suppose I could just replace the icon to Wordpad in my Taskbar, to one for "Libre Office", but that's not really what I'm after.
Any other suggestions?

Hey, Old Friend,

I think all you have to do is as follows:

In WordPad, click the Line Spacing icon, and set it to 1.0. Then, click the Paragraph icon and UN-click the Add 10-point space box. That'll mean you have to double-space when you want to start a new paragraph in something you're typing, but it should stop the 1.5 behavior in pasting text.

C'mon back if that don't work, as they say in the South.

What you just said is exactly what I've been doing, every time I have to paste something new into Wordpad.
Easy yes! Tiresome as heck?, OH HECK YES! If only I could find the secret sauce to make the default 1.0 lines instead of 1.5 lines, I'd be a happy camper. I DO use Wordpad a lot. So much so that it's always one of the first shortcuts that I put in the taskbar when I install Windows xx.
