Hi folks
This seems to be working again - if you want to change a Windows to Go type of system to a standard internal one -- Windows to go systems are great for all sorts of things but you can't update to newer builds on them. (basic and security windows updates work of course though).

So after restoring to an internal HDD / SSD etc

edit the registry --find this key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

then this key should exist with a value of "1"

PortableOperatingSystem

simply delete and reboot the system.

Edit -- added -- The "reverse" of this doesn't automatically create a WintoGo install by adding the key -- the 100% way to do that is to simply image the system and from a winpe / windows install disk -->repair sysyem --cmd mode and re install the bootloader via bcdboot.exe to the EFI file.

cheers
