I've had a look thru the tutorial section of the forum, and also done a search there just to cover my bases, and I do not find anything that comes close to doing what I'm wanting. I would like to have an easy, quick to access option in the desktop context menu to put my computer to sleep. I know that a desktop shortcut can be made that does this, and I know that I can also do this by right-clicking on the Start Menu button on the Taskbar/Shutdown or sign out/Sleep, but again, not really what I'm looking for.

Does anyone know if it's even possible to add that function to the context menu?

Sleepless in Seattle........... (an old reference)

Lots of information there, thanks! I've managed to create a .bat file that puts the computer to sleep, now I just need to know how to create an entry in the desktop context menu that points to that .bat file.

Any suggestions on how I get that done? In the meantime, I'm going to do a search for one of those third-party programs that will add entries to the context menu. Maybe that's my only option at this point?

Thanks again, @zbook for the information that got me headed in the right direction. I now have a bright new shiny context menu entry that points to a .bat file which puts my computer to sleep.

I hope you have a great new year over the next 12 months!

Sounds like you got it. I was going to say you could use the following tutorial as a starting point:

I actually first looked for tutorials here, but all of the samples I found were a bit more complicated than you needed (e.g. used RegExpand or had submenus). There may have been a simpler one here that I missed.
