On entering email and password for yahoo account in windows 11 mail and pc is not connected to any proxy gives the error something is wrong. Please lets discuss how to fix this error .look at the image below .

Removing the Yahoo account and reconnecting it worked for me, although I had tried that in the past and it didn't work. Success must be attributed to some change in the mail tool at some point.

deleting and re-adding yahoo accounts and repairing windows 11 mail worked for me.

some inboxes of my email accounts are empty or have far fewer emails in window 11 mail than their web interface despite pressing the sync button repeatedly ..

Does your Yahoo account use 2-step authentication? If yes have you created an app specific password or gone through the Yahoo log in process to authenticate Windows Mail for use with the account?

2-step verification is off and i generated windows 11 mail passwords.
do you think some half-empty mailboxes might be due to 2-step verification on.

I don’t have any problem with Yahoo mail & the Mail app so I doubt it is that. I however have 2-step authentication turned on & use an app specific password. If you’ve created & are using an app specific password then 2-step authentication should be on.
Ensure the setting for downloading emails is set to all rather than say last 30 days. If emails are missing it is usually this setting which is the cause.

The problem with Windows Mail is that it’s very basic imo & lacks features.

Open the Mail app & right click on the Yahoo account>account settings>change mailbox sync settings & under download email from change this to Anytime.

Are you using the Yahoo account’s password or the app specific password? I did ask previously but there was no mention of this in your reply.
Have you tried a different email client to see if that will download the mails?

i used the app specific password.
in ms outlook 2021 pp they are working perfectly ok.

Did you allow the app to add the account automatically or did you set it up manually? If automatic then try setting it up using the Other option, you’d have you manually enter the incoming & outgoing server settings.
Have you removed the account & set it up again?

As mentioned the Mail app is poor at best. I’ve remained on Windows Live Mail.

I am so glad to find an old Live Mail lover. When it comes to managing multiple email accounts (I have 4), the only thing I've found that comes close to it is Thunderbird, but out of familiarity I gravitate back to WLM because I've used it for so long. I never was able to set up a Yahoo account in WLM but that's fine by me as I have suggested to everyone I know to steer clear of Yahoo email. I would never use an email provider that has so little security in place. Like you, I agree the mail app sucks.
