Your device is missing important security updates

Yesterday, I deleted all the information on my computer to give to my brother. But when I restarted it, it showed "Your device is missing important security updates" and the download process stopped at 0%, it didn't run or it took so long. I'm very confused because I've never encountered this situation before, does it affect the computer? And how can I fix it? I've tried the troubleshooter and cmd app but it still doesn't work. I hope everyone can help me. Thank you guys

you can download then install this update restart and then check Windows update again.

If you're giving him the Dell laptop you have listed as "My Computer", just reset it. He will set it up himself as if it's a new computer.

Hi Steve
I am very grateful for your advice. I went to the link x64 (not arm64) above and saw 2 things to download. The first one I couldn't download but the second one I downloaded took 6 hours. After downloading the second one, the Window update went from 0-76% and stood there

. Can you help me understand more about this software? which sofware i need to dowload

i added the infomation of my lap in attach file

the two updates are one for x64 and one for ARM
you require the x64 update.

if you are having trouble updating with this download
restart into safe mode.

windows tools > system configuration
second tab > boot

tick start in safe mode then press apply/OK
do the update in safe mode .. NOTE >> it may take some time, please let it finish.

before you restart the system after the update has completed go back to
system configuration and 'untick' start in safe mode
the system will restart as normal after completing the update.

Why are you wasting time downloading and installing Windows Updates when you can just “Reset” the PC and let your brother do with it what he will? You’re obviously free to do what you want, but it seems a pointless effort.

You have nothing to fix. It is just a perfectly normal cumulative update.

Once that has finished downloading it will install and then ask for a Restart, after which it will finish installing and you are good to go.

Whether that is an auto Restart or manual depends on settings, a very minor consideration.

Once that has finished then decide on what you do when giving it away.
You may want to do a reset, maybe not. That is your decision.

Perhaps brother wants access to some of the third party apps and OP doesn't want to go through the hassle of reinstalling them? :::shrugs::: Factory resets on pre-builds often involves a whole lot of tweaking afterward. (All that bundled software and such.) Myself, I would opt out for the factory reset anyway simply as a matter of propriety and security. To each their own.

Perhaps I'm dating myself but Dell used to provide a method of factory resetting their laptops so that the user could restore it roughly in the same condition when it first purchased. This restoration would include all the Dell drivers and apps that came with it however these would usually need to be updated again.

All the major manufacturers provide a means of a factory reset of their Laptops. Includes all the drivers required, everything to restore to the original bought state.
Obviously over the years that becomes far less useful being increasingly out of date.

Consumer laws may also be a factor in some countries.
