This is happening in the full version of the (very old) game. Not sure why both of you assumed this was possible.

That's my experience. It's far above memory problems, but at least it is easy to test for memory problems. The inexpensive, used graphics card I put in was bought exactly for the purpose I'm using it for. I've had memory fail before, but I don't feel the need to keep a second set of memory on hand.

Thanks. It started crashing more often than once/hour. It crashed while I was at the F8 startup Boot Menu. I figured not a lot of software was running, so ran a memory test which was fine, and put in an old graphics card. I'm going to use it a while to see if the crashes stop. So far, so good...

I've been getting this crash for a couple weeks, roughly once every 12 hours of computer uptime. After the first couple, I did not recall installing any new software or updating Windows (although there was a Win update some weeks before the crashes started). There is no discernable correlation...

Perhaps I have jump lists turned off? I've never used them before. I don't get the option to pin it anywhere after pinning it to the taskbar.

"No, not yet." looks to be the right answer. Your suggestion, @Bree, does not work. Opening it from the taskbar ignores the argument, whether it is C:\ or /e,C:\. @atinfo, I hadn't thought of that, but in the end, just having it on the desktop is closer to what I want (no extra clicks).
